Ormak in Hongcheon is a true local gem that I've been consistently visiting for over 15 years.
It's not located in a typical restaurant alley or anything like that;
it's tucked away near a residential area,
so there's no dedicated parking lot.
You'll need to find a spot in the nearby alleys!

It's a slight shame that none of the meat is domestically sourced, but it's still so delicious that I keep coming back!
Pork Makchang (2 servings) ~$10 * 2 = ~$21
Samgyeopsal (Pork Belly, 2 servings) ~$9 * 2 = ~$18
Naengmyeon (Cold Noodles, 1 serving) ~$3
Dosirak (Lunchbox, 1 serving) ~$2
Other alcoholic beverages

The spread of banchan (side dishes) is impressive right from the start.
The combination of perilla leaves and pickled radish is absolutely divine when wrapped around the makchang.
And Ormak's makchang dipping sauce? It seems similar to others, but there's just something uniquely delicious about it!

What's more, the complimentary beef blood soup (seonjiguk) that comes with your meal is incredibly spicy and savory...
it's the perfect hangover cure, even while you're still enjoying your drinks. Truly outstanding!

My family usually orders a combination of samgyeopsal (pork belly) and pork makchang when we come here!
It's a sight that makes resisting a drink absolutely impossible, right?

However, they often close early if they run out of ingredients.
There have been many times I've gone on a weekday and found them closed by 8:00 PM.
I highly recommend calling ahead to confirm their operating hours before you visit.

Hongcheon Oreumak operates from 5 PM to 10 PM on weekdays, and from 5 PM to 9 PM on Saturdays. It is regularly closed every Sunday, and may close earlier than scheduled if ingredients run out.
Hongcheon Oreumak is located near a residential area and does not have a separate parking lot. Visitors should park in an available spot in the alleyways near the restaurant.
This article recommends the combination of Samgyeopsal (pork belly) and Dwaejimakchang (pork intestines). For side dishes, the perilla leaf and ssammu (pickled radish wrap) combination pairs well with makchang, and a spicy Seonjiguk (ox blood hangover soup) is provided as a complimentary soup.
