The popular Seuji Myeongdang (스지명당), previously only found in Chuncheon (춘천), finally opened a branch in Hongcheon (홍천)! My friends and I, all future brides, decided to check it out during a holiday, but it was absolutely packed. We put our names down for a table, went to take some fun photos at a photo booth, and came back, but still no call.
It was getting late, and as three "aging" thirty-somethings, we found ourselves waiting endlessly in the car. After nearly an hour with no word, we finally went back inside to inquire. Luckily, a table had just opened up, and we were finally seated! While our visit was during a busy holiday, I imagine the wait isn't always quite so intense now.

After enduring the rigorous wait, the first thing we ordered upon sitting down was drinks! Here's what we feasted on:
Arong Seuji Suyuk (Beef Tendon Hotpot) ₩36,000 (~$27)
Myeongnan Cheese Gamjajeon (Pollock Roe Cheese Potato Pancake) ₩19,000 (~$14)
Myeongnan Butter Bap (Pollock Roe Butter Rice) ₩7,000 (~$5)
Kalguksu Sari (Noodle Refill) ₩3,000 (~$2) * 2
Soju, Beer •••
It was truly a feast with my soon-to-be-married friends! 🐷🤍

Our main dish was the Arong Seuji Suyuk, priced at ₩36,000 (~$27). This tender beef tendon hotpot becomes even more delicious as it simmers gently over a burner at our table. The rich, milky broth that develops is absolutely incredible!
Seriously, the broth is incredibly thick and flavorful 🤤. The beef brisket (arongsatae) was slow-cooked to perfection, making it incredibly tender, and the beef tendon (seuji) had a wonderfully chewy yet savory texture. During the holiday, options were limited, but this taste made the long wait completely worthwhile.
I've visited Seuji Myeongdang's Chuncheon branch many times, but I honestly think the dishes at the Hongcheon branch tasted even better! (Maybe it's the "hometown advantage," but eating it in Hongcheon just made it extra delicious!)

At first, it seemed like a modest portion, but for three women, adding a Kalguksu Sari (noodle refill) made it just right. We were so engrossed in eating that I completely forgot to take a picture of the noodles, but trust me: you absolutely MUST order the Kalguksu Sari.
It was so delicious that we ordered it twice! Despite being future brides, we completely let loose and indulged. Even I, who isn't usually a big fan of noodles, found myself slurping down the Kalguksu noodles at Seuji Myeongdang Hongcheon – they were just that good! 🤦🏻♀️
This is especially true for my friends, who enjoy spicy flavors but aren't keen on spicy side dishes or anju (drinking snacks). For anyone with similar preferences, I highly recommend this dish! 👍

Next up was the Myeongnan Butter Bap (Pollock Roe Butter Rice) for ₩7,000 (~$5). Seriously, Seuji Myeongdang, are you trying to make us addicted?! Just looking at it, you can tell how amazing it tastes, right?! Despite being "butter rice," it wasn't greasy at all. Instead, it offered a fantastic blend of salty pollock roe and rich butter flavor.
My friend Sohae, who initially claimed she wasn't hungry, tried the Myeongnan Butter Bap and suddenly declared she must have been hungry after all! She polished off the entire bowl with relish.

Although we initially planned to only have the beef tendon hotpot, we couldn't resist ordering another dish: the Myeongnan Cheese Gamjajeon (Pollock Roe Cheese Potato Pancake). This pancake was reminiscent of a crispy shredded potato pancake, meaning the edges were delightfully crunchy, and the inside had a much better texture than a typical potato pancake.
Seuji Myeongdang would also be a fantastic spot for a casual drink in Hongcheon. I was so glad we came here when we were hungry for our first round of drinks!

Then came the Gamtae (Seaweed) Ice Cream. I'm not sure if we ordered it or if it was a complimentary treat, but it certainly had its own unique charm! However, I personally prefer the pecan ice cream served at the Seuji Myeongdang Chuncheon branch.
If the Hongcheon location started selling pecan ice cream too, it would truly be a top-tier pub in Hongcheon, no doubt!

It's always so comfortable and wonderful to meet up with hometown friends! Even if life gets busy and we can't keep in touch as often, and even if there are occasional misunderstandings, friends will always be friends. It was so relaxing and enjoyable to catch up after a long time 💚💛.

I got so caught up in having fun that I completely forgot my "blogger duties" and didn't take many photos, which is a shame. But the taste at Seuji Myeongdang Hongcheon was absolutely phenomenal! ‼️

If you've enjoyed an outing near Hongcheon (홍천) and are looking for a warm, comforting soup dish to fill you up on a chilly evening, I wholeheartedly recommend Seuji Myeongdang Hongcheon. You definitely won't regret it!
Make sure to experience this magical broth that simply begs for a glass of soju! 😍
We genuinely planned to stop after just one bottle each, but the food was so good that we couldn't help but order more!
