On our first day in Okinawa,

right after landing at Okinawa's Naha Airport,

I was absolutely starving!

I really wanted to fill my stomach right away,

and if I was going to eat, I definitely wanted something delicious.

I wasn't looking for just any quick bite,

but I also wanted to find an authentic Japanese meal quickly and as close as possible!

With some time to kill before hotel check-in,

I went searching for a place where I could enjoy a proper, delicious lunch.

That's how I ended up at Itoman Fish Market,

which is located just about a 10-minute drive from Okinawa's Naha Airport!

Let me share my absolutely delightful experience with you :-)

The Itoman Fish Market that I visited

is conveniently located just about a 15-minute drive from Okinawa's Naha Airport,

making it an easy and relaxing trip to get there.

Opening hours: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM

The Itoman Fish Market parking lot

is so incredibly spacious, you'll never have to worry about finding a spot!

You won't believe how big it is!

2. Inside the Market

Okinawa's Itoman Fish Market is

a local favorite, much like Korea's Noryangjin or Garak Market fish centers,

and is loved by locals.

You can buy various sushi and sashimi packs from inside the Itoman Fish Market

and freely enjoy them at the outdoor tables just outside the market stalls.

Though located near Okinawa's Naha Airport, the Itoman Fish Market

might surprise you. Once inside, you'll find it's not huge—perhaps around 10 stalls?

It's actually smaller than you might expect for a fish market.

Even though the official closing time is listed as 6 PM,

I actually visited during lunchtime and noticed

many sushi and sashimi packs were already sold out.

During peak seasons or busy meal times,

stalls might close earlier than expected,

so I highly recommend visiting a bit earlier to enjoy the full selection!

3. Itoman Fish Market Prices

If you visit Itoman Fish Market,

you'll find many stalls with prices that vary quite a bit.

Sashimi usually goes up to around ~1,000 JPY

Sushi or assorted sashimi platters are around ~2,000 JPY

And rice bowls start from around 1,000 JPY.

These prices are definitely not expensive,

so it would be a fantastic idea to include this spot

in your itinerary when you're near Okinawa's Naha Airport! Haha!

The Itoman Fish Market is quite compact,

so it won't even take you 10 minutes to walk through it.

I recommend circling back at least twice to explore thoroughly,

so you can compare prices and freshness before making your final order!

Each Store Has Its Own Specialties

I found that each stall had different types of sashimi that were exceptionally fresh.

You don't have to buy everything from one store,

so take your time, look around several stalls,

and pick out the freshest items from each!

Perfect for Sharing a Variety of Delights!

Tuna sashimi, salmon, flatfish sashimi,

sushi sets, seafood rice bowls, tempura, and more!

Each stall offers a different selection,

making the process of choosing so much fun!

It was truly wonderful to enjoy a little bit of everything.

5. My Takeaway

You can think of it as a clean outdoor food court,

which helps paint a clear picture.

My friends and I absolutely love sashimi,

and it was so much fun and delicious to pick out a few different packs of

whatever we each wanted and share them.

Beyond just sashimi and sushi,

they also had grilled dishes and tempura,

which made the experience even more satisfying! 😄

We headed out to the outdoor tables,

found a spot with my friends,

and shared the packs we had chosen.

Just as the reviews suggested,

the sashimi was incredibly fresh and delicious,

making us feel fantastic.

There's a supermarket right behind the Itoman Fish Market.

You can grab some refreshing drinks there,

which I highly recommend pairing with your meal! ~
