If you're planning a trip to Bali,
Nusa Penida Island isn't optional—it's an absolute must!

The emerald-blue waters and surreal, breathtaking cliffs
are things you'll never find on the Bali mainland...

But trying to book your own ferry,
haggling with local drivers...
Just thinking about it gives me a headache.
To cut to the chase,
booking a hassle-free private tour that includes free hotel pickup and drop-off
for just you and your group
is the ultimate way to save your energy, your mind, and even your wallet.
Take it from Hee-ya, who has already been on the Nusa Penida tour twice:
these insider tips are gold, so
make sure to read this review all the way to the end!

Lately, looking at Bali travel forums
and blogs,
I see so many people debating whether to go to Nusa Penida,
and if they do, whether to choose a group join-in tour or a private one.
There are so many people stressing over this decision.
I had the exact same dilemma when planning my independent Bali itinerary.
I thought about it a lot.
Mainly because last year, I did a hybrid group/private tour
that included regular snorkeling and Manta Ray snorkeling!
That was my first experience.

But even this time, choosing an itinerary without snorkeling,
I ended up going back to Nusa Penida.
That just shows how essential this island is—
you simply cannot leave it out
of your Bali bucket list!

When you add up coordinating boat times, hiring local drivers,
and waiting in massive lines at famous photo spots...
If you calculate all of that,

traveling comfortably with just your own group
with a dedicated guide taking care of you every step of the way
makes a private tour the only logical choice.
Last time, I booked through Klook,
and this time, I tried the KKday private tour.
And once again, it was a massive success and absolutely worth it!

It saved so much of my energy,
and thanks to our amazing guide, I walked away with hundreds of lifetime-worthy photos.
Experiencing it this way boosted my Bali trip satisfaction
by 200%,
so I just had to share this guide with you all.
How to Get to Nusa Penida & Book the Tour

Nusa Penida is a nearby island that requires a boat ride
of about 30 to 40 minutes
departing from Sanur Harbor.
As mentioned earlier,
I used the KKday private tour,
and the absolute best part was the free hotel pickup and drop-off with zero hidden fees.

Whether you're staying in Ubud, Canggu, Kuta, or Jimbaran,
they provide a private car pickup from almost any major area for free!
✔️ 7:00 AM: Picked up at our Jimbaran resort lobby
✔️ Arrival at Sanur Harbor & Ticketing: The guide handles absolutely everything!
✔️ Boarding the ferry & Arriving in Nusa Penida: Meet our dedicated local island guide

Everything from ferry tickets to the island entrance fee (tourism tax)
was completely included in the tour price,
so I didn't have to pull out my wallet even once.
A Relaxed Day-Trip Itinerary (Excluding Snorkeling)

This time, we skipped the snorkeling option
and focused fully on the West Tour itinerary.
I didn't want to walk around all wet and damp after swimming,
and I really wanted to focus on getting stunning photos!

✅ Angel's Billabong & Broken Beach
Our very first stop!

Known as a natural infinity pool,
the crystal-clear water of Angel's Billabong
is honestly mind-blowing.

The massive arched cliff of Broken Beach right next door
was absolutely spectacular!

This is where the real value of a private tour shines through.
Since it's such a world-famous tourist spot,
travelers from all over the world flock here,
making the competition for photo spots incredibly fierce.

While we were busy taking snaps around the area,
our guide would go ahead to the best photo spots,
stand in line for us, and then
take amazing photos of us!

He even shooed away some of the pushy line-cutters—
which is honestly one of the downsides of the Nusa Penida tour.
Thanks to our guide, we were able to completely avoid
those frustrating crowds.
Dealing with those massive, chaotic crowds... ugh! *shakes fist*
✅ Kelingking Beach

Famous for its cliff shaped like a T-Rex,
this is the spot!
It’s also ranked as the #1 must-visit place
in Bali for incredible views.

The path down to the beach is incredibly steep and rugged,
so we just took photos from the top.
But even just this view made the entire tour
worth every single penny. Absolutely breathtaking!

I noticed a rather eyesore of a structure that wasn’t there last year.
Apparently, it's the result of some heavy commercial development.
I seriously wonder why they had to build it *right* there, though... ^^
Local Lunch

After spending the whole morning taking photos and exploring,
we had a buffet-style lunch at a local restaurant.
And yes, this was included in the tour price!
It was a buffet featuring mie goreng, chicken stir-fry, shrimp crackers, and more.
The spices weren't too overpowering,
making it super delicious and easy to enjoy
even for sensitive palates!

Since it was a private tour just for us,
we could relax and enjoy our meal at our own pace,
which was amazing.
Just a heads up: drinks and alcohol are not included!
You'll need some cash (Indonesian Rupiah) for these.

📌 The Nusa Penida Private Tour I Booked
Nusa Penida Private Day Tour + Snorkeling Option | Bali
Must-Have Essentials for Your Nusa Penida Tour
The roads in Nusa Penida
can get pretty rough.
The car will definitely shake a lot, so
here are a few pro-tips to help you prepare!

✅ Motion Sickness Medication
For both the boat ride and the bumpy car rides
around the island,
make sure to take some motion sickness pills beforehand if you’re prone to it!

✅ Hat & Sunglasses
There isn't much shade, so the sun is incredibly intense.
Even though I’m normally someone who gets cold easily and barely feels the summer heat,
Pretty sure I sweated out an entire summer’s worth of sweat here; haha
I highly recommend bringing a portable fan, a sun umbrella,
and a small handkerchief!

✅ Comfortable Shoes
There are lots of rugged, uneven rocks,
so instead of heels or platforms,
sandals or comfortable sneakers are highly recommended!
Boasting a charm completely different from Bali's main island,
Nusa Penida is truly spectacular!

Even though I've already been there twice,
it's one of those places that keeps calling me back,
making me want to visit again and again.
If you're still on the fence,
I highly recommend adding at least
a day trip to Nusa Penida
to your Bali itinerary.
Personally, I’m definitely staying for at least one night next time!

Especially if you want to travel comfortably without worrying about others,
and you're serious about getting those once-in-a-lifetime photos,
a private tour that handles everything from pickups to taking your photos
is absolutely the way to go.

You can even adjust the tour schedule to fit your own itinerary,
which was amazing because it didn’t disrupt our later plans at all!

📍 Nusa Penida
Nusa Penida, Klungkung Regency, Bali, Indonesia
The boat ride from Sanur Port takes about 30 to 40 minutes. The boat ticket and the island's tourist tax (entrance fee) are all included in the tour price, so you don't need to pay separately.
Free private vehicle pickup and drop-off are provided in most areas of Bali, including Ubud, Canggu, Kuta, and Jimbaran. For accommodations in Jimbaran, pickup is at 7:00 AM at the lobby.
The tour visits Angel's Billabong, a natural infinity pool, and Broken Beach, which features a massive arched cliff. The course also includes Kelingking Beach, a famous viewpoint with a cliff resembling a T-Rex.
The meal, which includes dishes like mie goreng and stir-fried chicken, is included in the tour price, but beverages and alcohol are sold separately. You should prepare local currency (Rupiah) in cash beforehand to pay for these.
Motion sickness pills are necessary not only for the boat ride to the island but also because the roads on the island are rough and bumpy, causing the car to shake a lot. Additionally, many tourist spots have uneven rocks, so it is safer to wear comfortable sneakers or sandals rather than shoes with heels.
