On the very last day of my Bali trip,
I went on a day trip to Nusa Penida! 🏝️
Maybe it’s not super well-known among Korean travelers yet,
because we were the only Koreans there! The scenery was so incredibly gorgeous that I kept thinking,
"Why am I only discovering this place now?!" ♥
From the Nusa Penida tour route and packing list to my honest review,
I’ll break down all the details to help you plan your perfect getaway!

Nusa Penida is a stunning island located southeast of Bali, Indonesia.
You can reach it in about 40 minutes
by taking a speedboat from the Bali mainland.
Because it hasn’t been heavily developed yet,
it fully preserves its raw, natural beauty.
Its unique landscapes and breathtaking views make it absolutely magical,
making it a must-visit destination for all nature lovers out there! ♥
‼️ Booking a tour is absolutely the way to go for Nusa Penida.
There are no taxis or public transport, and the terrain is so rugged
that renting a scooter felt like it would be way too risky!
I booked my trip through KKday this time!
I chose a highly-rated, well-reviewed private tour,
and it was the perfect way to do a seamless day trip.
The tour includes round-trip transport, an English-speaking driver, bottled water,
and even the local Nusa Penida taxes.
For our group of 5, it cost ~$32 per person, which felt like an incredible deal! 🎉

▶ Nusa Penida Tour ◀
One of the best parts about a private Nusa Penida tour
is the convenient hotel pickup and drop-off!
They arrived right on time at our hotel,
and we hopped into our private ride to Sanur Harbor!
We also took the same vehicle back after the tour ended.
Even though the harbor was incredibly chaotic and busy,
our driver guided us smoothly and handed us over to the boat staff,
so we didn't get lost at all and boarded without a hitch!
The boat ride from Sanur Harbor to Nusa Penida Harbor
takes about 40 minutes.
Luckily, the waves weren't too rough on the day we went,
but if you're prone to motion sickness, I highly recommend taking some medicine beforehand!
Once you arrive at the Nusa Penida pier,
you'll meet your guide who will be waiting with a sign with your name on it.
They’ll double as both your private driver and tour guide!
Since it was a private tour,
we had the vehicle entirely to ourselves.
We didn't have to worry about keeping up with a group of strangers,
and having the flexibility of our own schedule made it so much better!
Nusa Penida is split into the East and West coasts.
Since it’s hard to fit both sides into a single day,
most travelers choose one to focus on.
When booking, you'll be asked to choose between West and East.
We decided to focus our day on exploring the West Coast!

Since this was our very last day in Bali,
we wanted to keep things moving efficiently.
Luckily, because it was a private tour, we could customize the itinerary on the fly!
So, we decided to head straight to Angel's Billabong first.
Our first stop was Angel's Billabong!
Its name translates to 'Angel's Pool,'
and it truly lives up to it as a breathtaking natural infinity pool.
The water was incredibly clear—you could see right to the sandy bottom!
(Apparently, swimming used to be allowed here, but it has recently been banned for safety.)
Our second stop, Broken Beach,
is located right next to Angel's Billabong.
The natural archway formed in the cliffside is absolutely magnificent...!
The turquoise ocean water swirled below, showing off the pure magic of nature.
It was a shame that photos couldn't fully capture its true grandeur.
Our final stop was the iconic T-Rex-shaped cliff of Kelingking Beach!
This is the most famous spot you'll see when searching for Nusa Penida,
and it literally took my breath away! It is unbelievably gorgeous 🩵
Looking down, the beach was framed by a stunning emerald sea,
and we even spotted a wild monkey here! >.< You're going straight to my thumbnail!
Even though it can be a tricky place to take photos, our guide
led us straight to the best photo spots
and worked so hard to snap some amazing shots for us!
One slightly disappointing thing was that there was a massive steel structure
left abandoned on the cliff. Apparently, there was a project to build an elevator for quick beach access,
but it got canceled, leaving this eyesore behind... ㅇㅂㅇ
If only that wasn't there, the natural view would have been absolutely perfect... ㅠ
The original itinerary had us eating lunch before visiting Kelingking Beach,
but we chose to wrap up all our sightseeing first and eat afterward.
It was a buffet-style meal, and we even treated ourselves to some cold Cokes.
The lunch is fully included in the tour price!
Then, we headed back to the harbor to catch our return boat.
They handed out name tags and QR codes, which you just need to show when boarding.
Once we arrived back, we met our morning driver again
who took us safely back to our hotel. Haha, and that wraps up the tour!
☑️ Packing List
Sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, motion sickness medication,
insect repellent, pocket cash (needed for restrooms),
for snorkeling: swimsuit, towel, personal snorkeling gear
If you're prone to motion sickness like me, medication is a total must!
When I visited, the waves weren't too bad,
so I didn't experience any boat sickness, but I heard the currents are usually pretty strong!
Also, when you travel around Nusa Penida by car,
you'll be driving through winding mountain roads and bumpy paths,
so if you get motion sick easily, you'll definitely want to have some meds ready.
Since the sun is incredibly strong, things like sunscreen, sunglasses, and hats
are highly recommended to shield yourself from the heat!
I was a bit careless with my sunscreen and ended up completely burning my shoulders and chest, haha.
For shoes, sandals were more than enough,
and some people were wearing flip-flops or Crocs.
Lastly, if your itinerary includes snorkeling,
bringing your own swimsuit, towel, and snorkeling gear is a great idea :)
