Arriving late in Bali? The Novotel Ngurah Rai Airport offers a perfect, affordable overnight stay just a 5-minute walk from the terminal, ideal for resting up before your next adventure.
Many travelers arriving in Bali, especially on late-night flights, often find themselves landing around midnight. This usually means looking for a convenient and affordable 'half-night' stay to recharge before their main adventure begins.
If that sounds like you, I've got a fantastic recommendation for a budget-friendly option that truly delivers.
For our trip, we had an early morning transfer to the Gili Islands the day after we arrived. A full-night stay felt a bit unnecessary and inconvenient given our quick turnaround.
Typically, travelers arriving late at night in Bali consider a few options:
1. Heading straight from the airport for a Mount Batur sunrise trek. (Only recommended if you're feeling incredibly energetic!)
2. For those heading to the Gili Islands, finding a half-night stay near Padangbai Port.
3. Booking a Grab to a hotel in Ubud, Jimbaran, or Kuta for a late check-in, especially if you're staying multiple nights there.
While we were also heading to the Gili Islands, we really wanted a clean, comfortable place to maximize our rest. That's why we chose the
“Novotel Bali Ngurah Rai Airport”, which is conveniently walkable right from the terminal.
We looked at several other airport hotels for our short stay, but many required a 5-10 minute taxi ride or a 7-10 minute walk outside the airport. Dragging luggage late at night outside the airport didn't appeal to us. The Novotel was the clear winner, especially after comparing prices and finding it to be excellent value.
I've included a price comparison for the same date and room type below! :))

Simply follow the signs from the airport, and you'll find a direct pathway to the hotel without even stepping outside the airport perimeter. It’s an easy 5-minute walk. On your way, you can even pop into a convenience store to grab some bottled water or a quick snack before settling in.
We booked a Superior Twin Room, and it was surprisingly clean and comfortable. We didn't encounter any bugs, and the air conditioning worked perfectly, keeping the room cool despite some reviews mentioning heat.
I'm a really light sleeper and usually quite sensitive to noise (I once lost sleep in an Ubud hotel because of frog sounds!), but I slept soundly with no disturbance from airplane noise, which was a huge relief.
The shower in our room allowed for filter replacement, which is a big plus.
The color of the filter after just one day was quite shocking at first, but after traveling to other regions, I realized this was actually pretty mild!
Seriously, for Bali, you absolutely MUST bring a shower filter. You'll be amazed how much it changes after just a day of use.
I personally brought a travel filter with a vitamin-infused cartridge, which also added a lovely scent, making it a highly recommended item for any trip to Bali!
Since we had an early departure for the Gili Islands, we made sure to book our stay with breakfast included. With a lot of travel ahead, we knew we needed a good meal to start the day. Breakfast is available from 6:00 AM. The restaurant, visible in the upper left of the photo, is quite spacious with a wide variety of options.
I particularly enjoyed the omelet! Overall, the food was good, and the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive.
The hotel also boasts pleasant walking paths and a swimming pool, which guests can use for free. If you're staying for a half-night before your flight back home, it would be a fantastic spot to relax by the pool and unwind before heading to the airport.
For us, after checking out in the morning, we waited in the lobby for our private driver. We were then comfortably transported to Padangbai Port for our Blue Express ferry to the Gili Islands, feeling completely refreshed.
We booked the private pick-up and drop-off service with Blue Express, which meant a private driver took us right from our hotel to the port and back on our return. It made the journey incredibly smooth and stress-free. Whenever friends ask about Gili, I always recommend this exact route!
