Northeast: The Famous Bangkok Spot Beloved by Travelers
From their legendary Poo Pad Pong Curry to crispy fried dishes and flavorful fried rice,
this is a spot I find myself returning to every single time I visit Bangkok! '-'
Here is a complete guide to Northeast's opening hours, recommended dishes, and more.
1. Northeast

📌 Address: 1010, 12-15 Rama IV Rd, Si Lom, Bang Rak, Bangkok 10500, Thailand
⏰ Opening Hours: Mon ~ Sat 11:00 ~ 21:00 / Closed on Sundays
Northeast Bangkok is located just an 8-minute walk
from MRT Blue Line Silom Station.
Lumphini Park is right across the street,
making it the perfect place to grab a bite and then go for a stroll to spot some giant monitor lizards!

The restaurant is spread across two floors (1F and 2F),
and the staff will guide you to your seat when you arrive.
A nonstop medley of K-pop hits was playing throughout the restaurant.
And it makes total sense—Northeast is incredibly famous among Korean travelers,
so almost everyone dining here was Korean! lol
Honestly, it felt like a massive Korean meetup -
2. The Menu

The menu at Northeast is absolutely massive,
so I highly recommend checking out some of the crowd-favorite recommendations before you go.
They do have a simplified menu featuring their signature dishes,
but there are always hidden gems waiting to be found in the main menu! ~

📌 Northeast Recommended Dishes
• Boneless Poo Pad Pong Curry: 495 Baht (Shell-on version: 295 Baht)
• Crab Fried Rice (S): 395 Baht
• Morning Glory (Stir-fried Water Spinach): 95 Baht
• Watermelon Smoothie (Tangmo Ban): 100 Baht
• Chicken Wings: 145 Baht
• Deep-Fried Garlic Shrimp: 225 Baht
✔ Poo Pad Pong Curry is the star dish at Northeast.
It comes in two options: shell-on or boneless.
If you love a bit of texture and crunch, go for the shell-on version.
But if you want to effortlessly scoop up mouthfuls of rich curry, the boneless version is the way to go!
✔ There are also several versions of Morning Glory.
The very first item on the front page of the simplified menu
is indeed the classic stir-fried morning glory that everyone loves,
but it comes topped with shrimp, making it a bit pricier.
If you want the basic, classic version for just 95 Baht,
you can find and order it from the main menu!

If you want a drink that isn't featured
on the simplified menu,
just browse through the main, thick menu book.
3. Honest Taste Test & Review

The watermelon smoothie (Tangmo Ban) at Northeast is absolutely massive!
I highly recommend sharing one between two people.
To be honest, I'm not normally a big fan of watermelon,
but this smoothie was so icy-cold, refreshing, and sweet
that I couldn't stop drinking it.

For the Poo Pad Pong Curry, we went with the boneless option.
While many people love the crispy texture of the shell,
I find peeling and picking out the pieces too tedious to enjoy the meal properly 🤣
But with the boneless version, there's absolutely nothing in your way—
you can just scoop it up by the spoonful and enjoy it effortlessly.

Since Poo Pad Pong Curry doesn't come with rice,
you have to order it separately, and the crab fried rice is the perfect match!
Even though we got the S size, it was plenty for the four of us.
If you're dining solo or are a light eater,
I highly recommend just grabbing a bowl of plain rice for 20 Baht!

The Pad Thai at Bangkok's famous Northeast was pretty standard.
It wasn't mind-blowing enough to make me go "Wow!",
but if it's your first time trying Pad Thai, it's a great, safe starter.

The morning glory (water spinach) was so crunchy and savory!
It pairs beautifully with just about any dish. When visiting Bangkok eateries,
it’s an absolute must-order—almost like having kimchi with a meal.
We asked for it to be a little spicy,
and it balanced out the sweet Poo Pad Pong Curry perfectly!

The chicken wings were incredibly crispy and delicious!
They tasted a bit like Kyochon Honey Combo chicken (a famous Korean sweet-soy style).
Since they were all wings, the meat was super tender and juicy.
3. SKT Membership Discount

Northeast is famous among Korean travelers as a spot where you can get an SKT discount (10%).
Unfortunately, when I visited, they told me the promotion had ended, so I couldn't get it. T_T
But since these promos can start up again at any time,

It's a place I visit every single time I travel to Bangkok.
The food is consistently delicious, and the staff are always so friendly,
making it a highly pleasant dining experience every time.
If you can't finish your watermelon smoothie (Tangmo Ban), you can get it to go.
It's perfect for sipping while walking around Lumphini Park right across the street,
where you can spot the famous giant monitor lizards! :)

3. My Honest Review

The watermelon smoothie (Tangmo Ban) at Northeast is absolutely massive!
I highly recommend sharing one between two people.
Honestly, I’m not even a huge fan of watermelon,
but this one was so frosty, sweet, and delicious
that I kept sipping it non-stop. It was incredibly refreshing!

We ordered the boneless Poo Pad Pong Curry.
While many people love the crunchy texture of the shell-on version,
I find it a hassle to pick out the shells one by one
and feel like I can't enjoy my meal properly 🤣
But with the boneless version, there was nothing in the way—
we could just scoop it up by the spoonful and eat so comfortably.

The curry doesn't come with rice automatically,
so you'll need to order it separately. The crab fried rice is the perfect match!
Even though we got the Small size, it was plenty for the four of us.
If you're traveling solo or are light eaters,
I'd recommend just ordering a bowl of plain white rice for 20 Baht!

The Pad Thai here was pretty standard.
It wasn't a "wow, mind-blowing" kind of flavor,
but it's a great, safe starter if you're trying Pad Thai for the first time.

The morning glory was wonderfully crunchy and savory.
It pairs so well with literally everything that whenever I visit a restaurant in Bangkok,
it feels like an absolute must-order side dish!
We asked for it to be a little spicy,
and it balanced out the sweet crab curry beautifully!

The chicken wings were incredibly crispy and delicious!
They tasted very similar to Korea's famous Kyochon Honey Combo chicken.
Since they were all wing pieces, the meat was super tender and juicy.
