Now, let's dive into our review of the Mahoroba Onsen Hotel in Noboribetsu!
An onsen hotel is an absolute must-do when visiting Sapporo or Hokkaido! To summarize, we were completely satisfied with the hot springs, the price, and the location!

Since this was a trip with my parents, I was extremely careful and selective when choosing our accommodation!
Check-in is at 2:00 PM and check-out is at 10:00 AM. One of the things we were most satisfied with was the hotel's shuttle bus service. If you email the hotel, they can arrange a bus reservation for you to get from Noboribetsu to the city center. Having a bus depart directly from the hotel made our journey to the city incredibly convenient!
The one-way fare is approximately ~$6, which you can pay at checkout!

With its fantastic outdoor onsen baths, this hotel offers incredible value for money! You won't regret choosing Hotel Mahoroba!
After checking in, you can pick up your yukata from the lobby! When in Japan, you absolutely have to try wearing a traditional Japanese yukata!

Sizes are available in S, M, and L!

We booked a traditional tatami room, and we were greeted with welcome tea and desserts. It was fun to see a treat that reminded me of the bread from the old Doraemon cartoons!

Our family of five comfortably shared the room, making for a cozy stay.

From our window, we could see the ropeway leading to the Bear Park. The view was wide open and truly wonderful!

Jigokudani (Hell Valley) is also just a 10-minute walk away, so we changed into our clothes and went for a quick tour! Isn't it absolutely stunning?

Best of all, there were so many convenience stores and supermarkets nearby, which was incredibly helpful!

A quick photo before heading to the grand public bath! Remember to bring your own towel, as they are not provided in the public bath area. However, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and facial cleanser are all readily available.

The grand public baths are located underground. The male and female baths switch between floors at different times, but the outdoor grand bath on the second basement level is absolutely the best. Your head stays cool while your body is warm... it was truly a fantastic experience!
You absolutely must try the grand bath on the second basement level!

After our relaxing onsen experience, we headed to the buffet for dinner!
To be honest, I wouldn't recommend the buffet. Haha...

There wasn't much to eat for the price, and while they advertised unlimited crab, the crab had very little meat, so it wasn't worth it.ㅠㅠ

Still, we enjoyed a refreshing beer and then...

We discovered the arcade and had an absolute blast for about an hour! They had claw machines, whack-a-mole, and quite a few people came to play after dinner! We probably spent around ~$37 here, haha!

The view, location, and price all made our family incredibly happy and proud of our choice!
When planning our winter Hokkaido itinerary, we decided to dedicate a day to proper relaxation in Noboribetsu, choosing Hotel Mahoroba for its hot springs and evening buffet (despite our buffet experience). Many people looking for a Sapporo onsen hotel compare this place, so we had mixed expectations, but it perfectly captured the cozy winter hotel vibe in Sapporo on a snowy day.
Hotel Mahoroba offers excellent value! I booked the Japanese-style room (10 tatami mats) with five futon sets.
