for a day trip to Niseko is totally doable.
However, if you want the full, immersive Hokkaido experience,
I highly recommend staying at a hotel right by the slopes
so you can enjoy skiing from dawn till dusk.

is arguably the most convenient, as it offers
direct ski-in/ski-out access to the lifts.
Yes, it comes with a premium price tag, but honestly,
navigating slippery, freezing streets to find a restaurant
after an exhausting day on the slopes
is a huge hassle.
In rural Japanese ski towns, dining options can be limited,
and the ones that exist often close early.
Paying a bit extra to have everything—food, rentals, lifts—
handled right inside your hotel
is worth its weight in gold for your peace of mind.
