The only problem? There are so many options!
For those of you wondering
what to choose in a short amount of time,
I've put together a list of the
top 5 must-buy snacks
at Lawson in New Chitose Airport!
Number 1: Yubari Melon Desserts
When you think of Hokkaido,
you simply can't leave out Yubari Melon, can you?
It's a specialty from Hokkaido's Yubari region,
and honestly, I came all the way
to Sapporo, Hokkaido, just to eat this!
I've become completely obsessed with Yubari Melon...
Available only from mid-June
to early August,
Yubari Melon is incredibly sweet,
with a rich aroma and
plenty of juicy goodness.
At Lawson in New Chitose Airport,
you can find desserts like puddings, jellies, and roll cakes
that incorporate Yubari Melon juice.
The intense melon fragrance and
smooth texture are simply delightful.
While fresh Yubari Melon itself can be quite pricey,
even very expensive,
I still managed to eat five whole melons
during my 3-night, 4-day trip...
I even checked other convenience stores unique to Hokkaido, like Seico Mart,
FamilyMart and 7-Eleven,
but they didn't sell Yubari Melon.
I could only find and enjoy it at Lawson convenience stores!
I even had it at one place in Otaru.
If you package Yubari Melon properly
and go through the quarantine declaration procedures
at New Chitose Airport,
you can even bring whole Yubari Melons
into Korea.

I highly recommend it as a treat that even kids will happily enjoy without any fuss.
When I visited, it was late June,
and the weather was delightfully cool and not humid,
not excessively hot.
However, in July and August, temperatures can climb up to 29°C (84°F),
and with recent unusual weather patterns,
Hokkaido has also become significantly warmer.
So, bringing along one of these mini
portable fans is a fantastic idea!
