Mujungryeok Roasters Cafe: Essential Information
After a delightful bread shopping spree at Bakery Bammaeul, a leisurely stroll along Gongju's Jeminchon Stream district left me craving a fantastic cup of coffee. That's how I stumbled upon Mujungryeok Roasters, Gongju's only espresso bar!
Mujungryeok Roasters Cafe: Essential Information

As Gongju's only espresso bar, Mujungryeok Roasters immediately caught my eye with its charming exterior, which looked like a beautifully renovated old house.

The spinning "zero-gravity" sign at the entrance was a fun, nostalgic touch – it reminded me of the barbershop poles I used to see as a kid!

That bicycle parked by the entrance? It's probably the owner's – it just added to the cozy, artsy vibe, so I had to snap a picture!
Inside the Cafe: Atmosphere & Staff

The cafe was run by a young owner and what appeared to be a new staff member, who was clearly still learning the ropes. Both were incredibly friendly, and while their coordination was a little off at times – which was quite endearing, to be honest – I found myself silently rooting for them!
Their dedication reminded me of a trip to Fukuoka a while back, where I encountered a distinguished elderly barista. He served coffee impeccably dressed in a suit, waistcoat, and polished shoes, leaving a lasting impression with his meticulous service. Seeing the care and effort here at Mujungryeok Roasters brought that memory flooding back.

The interior boasts cozy window seats and tables perfect for 2-3 people to chat and relax.

There were also a few more tables beneath a display cabinet filled with cups and pretty lighting, but unfortunately, a large group was occupying that area, so I couldn't get a photo.

As a true roastery cafe, they use a Stronghold coffee machine, and the rich aroma of freshly roasted beans permeated the entire space – it was absolutely divine!

Towards the back, there's even a well-appointed area perfect for solo visitors looking to enjoy a quiet coffee or get some work done.
Curated Beans & Diverse Menu

You can choose your beans based on your preference for light, medium, or dark roasts. The staff also provides excellent recommendations for which beans pair best with espresso, Americano, or latte, making it easy to find your perfect cup.
True to its name, this roastery cafe also sells freshly roasted beans right on site.

As Gongju's only espresso bar, they offer an impressive variety of espresso-based drinks.
And for those who aren't coffee drinkers, there's a thoughtful selection of non-coffee beverages too.
I initially wanted a filter coffee, but they didn't have it, suggesting their signature "Cold Shot" instead. I wasn't feeling it at the moment and didn't order it, but looking back now, I really wish I had given it a try!
Our Order & Review

While waiting for our drinks, I took the time to read through the espresso bar guide card they provided.

I ordered a Cortado made with light roast beans for myself, and an Iced Cafe Latte with medium roast beans for my husband!
My Cortado, which I hadn't had in a while, was perfectly balanced and absolutely hit the spot. My husband also loved his latte, sipping it happily, which made me feel quite pleased.

That day, a large group of customers kept the owner and staff incredibly busy, and orders were piling up. However, the coffee was so satisfying that I decided to participate in their review event to get another complimentary drink!

For my refill, I could choose any drink within the same price range, so I opted for the intriguing Cafe Con Salepepe.
Despite the wait due to the crowd, the Cafe Con Salepepe was definitely worth it! It's an espresso shot topped with cream, salt, and pepper, and honestly, it was even more delicious than the Cortado I had initially – a little secret for you! The hint of pepper blended perfectly, and it was so incredibly tasty that I regretted not diving into their specialty espresso menu from the start!
Final Thoughts
