ⓒ Ssoejini
Hello, I'm Ssoejini, your globetrotting friend :)
I've finally returned from my bucket-list adventure:
a 6-night, 7-day tour
to Mongolia's Gobi Desert + Terelj!
Before booking a trip to Mongolia,
it's common to wonder, "Will the bugs be okay?
Will staying in a ger be alright?"
Right? It's a place that often sparks these concerns.
Before I left, I also scoured all the questions on the
Love Mongolia Cafe, meticulously researching and comparing everything!
Today, right after my trip, I'm giving you a quick sneak peek at
the highlights of my 6-night, 7-day Mongolian adventure.
So, if you're debating booking, pay close attention!

1. Why I Chose StarTree for My Mongolia Trip Tour

Sainuu~!
That's "Hello!" in Mongolian.
There are so many tour companies in Mongolia, aren't there?
Honestly, many tours have similar itineraries and offerings.
So, "making a decision" is more important than "gathering information."
With so many options, it's hard to find one that perfectly matches
your conditions (time, budget, stamina), isn't it?
Especially since I was with a group of 6, it took a lot of time and effort
to coordinate everyone's opinions. Haha.

Specifically, before looking for a tour,
I had already snatched up discounted flight tickets.
So, adjusting the itinerary to match my flight times
was the most crucial factor!
And let's be honest, budget is important to you too, right?
It certainly is for me! LOL!
So, I prioritized everything, including value for money,
when choosing our tour.
(+ There's discount info at the very bottom!)
2. 6-Night, 7-Day Gobi Desert & Terelj Itinerary
This was our route, so you can use it as a reference!

Date | Route | Details |
6/30 | Airport - Baga Gazryn Chuluu | Travel 230km |
7/1 | - Bayanzag | Unpaved 180km |
7/2 | - Khongoryn Els | Entirely unpaved |
7/3 | - Yolyn Am | Mostly unpaved |
7/4 | - Tsagaan Suvarga | Unpaved 100km |
7/5 | - Terelj National Park | Unpaved 30km |
7/6 | - Airport | Wrap-up |
Quite a lot of travel distance, right?
Beep-boop! That's perfectly normal for Mongolia!
And that's just an approximate, by the way...! Haha.
However, the crucial thing is how well-packed and exciting the itinerary is
in relation to all that travel time, wouldn't you agree?

📍 Baga Gazryn Chuluu
623H+G66, Choiri-sume, Dundgovi, Mongolia
Day 1: Baga Gazryn Chuluu
Do you love activities?
Do you love amusement park rides?
Then you'll absolutely love the unpaved road roller coaster... pure thrill..!
ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
When we went to Baga Gazryn Chuluu,
we discovered caves and even a temple.
The grand nature here is absolutely mind-blowing~!

📍 Bayanzag
4PQH+876, Bulgan, Ömnögovi, Mongolia
Day 2: Bayanzag
They call this the "Flaming Cliffs"
because it looks like it's on fire when the sun sets.
Our guide told us that the trees in Bayanzag
are the kind that only camels can eat.
Following our guide,
when he'd say, "It's pretty here~" we'd snap a pic,
and "It's pretty here!" we'd snap another,, haha
Our guide even took some drone footage for us here!
I'll show you when I write a more detailed post!

📍 Gobi Desert
Gobi Desert
Day 3: Khongoryn Els, Gobi Desert
You've all probably imagined sledding down here, right?
It's much, MUCH taller than you'd think!
The desert formed cliffs because of the wind,
and the sound of the wind hitting them is like singing,
so they call it the Singing Sands!

📍 Yolyn Am Canyon
G2VQ+594, Баяндалай, Өмнөговь, Mongolia
Day 4: Yolyn Am
Horseback riding! Passing through the canyon on horseback was just so cool...
The trekking here is truly legendary,
so I was really glad I rode a horse here..!

📍 Gorkhi-Terelj National Park
Энхтайвны Өргөн Чөлөө 206, Улаанбаатар, Mongolia
Day 5: Terelj National Park
How to describe it? It was like a Windows desktop background unfolding right before my eyes!
I'm the type who believes you absolutely *must* visit national parks,
so I was incredibly satisfied!

📍 Chinggis Khaan Equestrian Statue
Ulaanbaatar Chinggis Khaan Statue, ND - 5 khoroo, Nalaikh, Ulaanbaatar 12593 Mongolia
Day 7: Chinggis Khaan Statue + Museum
It's majestic...!
It felt incredible to see a statue in real life that I'd only ever seen in history books!
We also had time to buy souvenirs, like a camel doll.
I've only given you the highlights, but
what do you think!? Don't you want to go~?
I wasn't really a nature-lover; I used to be more into experiential travel in cities or by the sea,
but after visiting Mongolia, I'm truly a great-nature-lover.
It was a trip with absolutely no regrets!
3. A Must-Check Checklist: Inclusions/Exclusions

This is seriously important.
If they suddenly ask for extra charges locally,
it totally ruins the whole travel vibe, doesn't it?
Inclusions | Exclusions |
Admission fees for attractions per itinerary | Some optional admission fees are excluded (check itinerary) |
Vehicle / Guide / Driver expenses | Travel insurance ※ Travelers are responsible for trips without travel insurance. |
Accommodation costs | |
All meal expenses (refer to itinerary for special meals) | |
Bottled water (2-3 x 500ml per person, per day) | Personal snacks like alcohol, cigarettes, beverages |
Sleeping bag, poncho, air bed (provided per person) | International airfare and fuel surcharges/airport taxes |
SIM card (provided per person, 10,000 T refund if not needed) | Single room supplement for solo occupancy |
Mongolian traditional clothing experience, 1 bonfire | Gratuities (not a mandatory cultural practice) |
Airport pickup and drop-off (one each) | Paid activities, Ulaanbaatar accommodation |
So, these are the inclusions of the Startree Tour
that I meticulously checked.
I particularly chose a place that definitely included
traditional clothing, ponchos, and cloaks!
4. Startree Mongolia Tour Recommendation & Discount Code
They say it's impossible to fix exact travel times in Mongolia
because the land is so vast.
Our guide and driver
taught us about Mongolian language, culture, and more,
which was so fascinating and fun!
I'll break these down one by one later, too. Haha.

If you ask, "Would I recommend this tour?"
While I wouldn't recommend it for those seeking a modern hotel stay,
for anyone who says, "I want to truly encounter magnificent nature at least once in my life,"
it's an absolute must-do!
If you leave a secret comment,
I'll share a discount code with you!
