This unbelievably generous table you see here
consists entirely of "tsukidashi" (seafood side dishes) at Mokpo North Port Hoe Center!
Welcome to Mokpo Gogi Nara🐟🐟
The moment we stepped in front of the shop,
the owner greeted us with the warmest, brightest smile.
Before we even ordered, we felt incredibly welcomed!〰️

The water tanks are kept absolutely pristine.
Just pick your favorite fish,
and a massive feast will be prepared right before your eyes.

From sea cucumbers and spoon worms to live octopus, sea squirts, and abalone...
The sheer variety of fresh seafood is mesmerizing!

With over 20 years of experience as a ship captain,
the owner catches the seafood directly on his own boat.
This is why they can offer premium-quality fish
at such an unbeatable price!

They also have a close connection
with Mokpo's very own star,
Mister Trot 2 singer Park Ji-hyun!
The owner has such a kind and photogenic face,
but he looks even better and warmer in person!
As a massive fan of white-flesh fish,
and knowing how incredible the side dishes are,
we went ahead and ordered the classic Flatfish (Gwang-eo).
Mokpo Gogi Nara Full Course Pricing (Includes Sashimi & All Side Dishes):
2 People: ~$77
3 People: ~$83
4 People: ~$96
(Additional charge applies for fish species other than Flatfish/Rockfish)
For two people, it’s about ~$38 per person,
but if you visit as a group of four, it drops to under ~$24 per person!
The more, the merrier!
I highly recommend coming here with family or a group of friends‼️

Right across from Mokpo Gogi Nara,
there is a massive, wide-open parking lot.
You won't have to worry about parking at all,
making it super convenient to visit 💜
Enjoying the Feast at the 2nd-Floor Dining Hall (Chojang-jip)

After ordering downstairs, you head up to the second-floor dining hall,
where your fresh sashimi and side dishes will be served.
On a clear day, you can dine out on the terrace,
but unfortunately, it was raining when we visited. ^^;
Private rooms are available for reservation,
and since the dining hall gets packed on weekends,
booking in advance is highly recommended!

The dining hall table fee is ~$3 per person.
Spicy fish soup, rice, and drinks are charged separately.

Oh my goodness... this is insane!
One cartload wasn't even enough to bring everything.
It took quite a while just to set up the entire table!
Sweet rice cakes, ginseng, dumplings, peaches, bamboo rice, seasoned herbs,
scallops, spoon worms, fries, sweet corn, steamed pumpkin,
scallop adductor muscle, sea squirts, octopus, shrimp, soy-marinated shrimp, fermented skate,
corn, grilled fish, fresh abalone, sea cucumber, stone sea squirt, spicy octopus skewers,
steamed flatfish, and so much more...
There are so many side dishes, I can't even list them all!
This is hands-down the best spot in Mokpo North Port.

The live octopus (Sannakji) served as a side dish was so energetic!
Even after eating other dishes first, when I went back to it,
it was still sticking to the plate like crazy. Time to dig in!

Just looking at this ocean-fresh spread makes me so happy.
Why don't I live in Mokpo?!

The spicy octopus skewers (Nakji Horongi) were quite a kick for mild palates,
but the sweet and spicy sauce was so addictive
that we ended up dipping other side dishes into it! haha

Pro Tip for eating Stone Sea Squirt (Dol-meongge):
The empty shell makes the perfect shot glass for Jinro Soju! 🍶
Drinking out of the shell makes the soju taste incredibly sweet and smooth.
And the craziest part?
Our main dish of sashimi hadn't even arrived yet!
Cue the dramatic music...
The Flatfish Sashimi has entered the building!

Look at how beautifully thick these flatfish slices are!
They even gave us a generous portion of the highly prized, fatty fin pieces (Engawa).🐟🐟
We were already getting full from the side dishes,
but we somehow found our second stomach for the sashimi!
We enjoyed it wrapped in fresh lettuce, dipped in soy sauce with wasabi, and on its own.

No matter how full you are, you must finish with the hot soup
to truly complete a Korean sashimi meal!
You can choose between spicy fish soup (Maeuntang) or mild, clear soup (Jiri-tang).
We were in the mood for the refreshing, clear Jiri-tang.
We saved a few pieces of raw flatfish
and swirled them in the boiling soup shabu-shabu style.
It made the fish texture incredibly tender, bouncy, and delicious!
Pairing it with the local kimchi was absolutely divine.

If you are visiting the culinary city of Mokpo,
the ultimate seafood experience awaits you at the North Port Seafood Town.
Make sure to stop by Mokpo Gogi Nara!
