Planning a Bohol family vacation? Modala Resort offers pristine rooms, a private beach, and a tranquil escape from the crowds. Find out why it's our top pick!

Hey there, global explorers! Yungmad here.
When planning a family trip to Bohol,
finding the perfect place to stay is key.
If you're dreaming of a peaceful escape where your family
can truly unwind,
I can't recommend Modala Resort enough!
Being a brand-new resort,
the rooms are pristine,
and it even boasts its own private beach!
For our family trip to Bohol,
it was an absolutely satisfying choice.
1. Where to Find This Gem

When visiting Bohol, most travelers typically
choose accommodations close to the vibrant Alona Beach,
which is considered the heart of the action.
While it's true that Alona Beach is brimming with fantastic restaurants and major resorts,
for a relaxing getaway like this, I found myself spending more quality time
unwinding within the resort than exploring the town.
So, the exact location wasn't really a concern for me.

But if the urge to explore Alona Beach strikes,
a quick tuk-tuk ride will get you there for 200 pesos one way.
Just let the front desk know, and they'll happily arrange it for you!

The resort offers a variety of room types to suit every preference,
from the excellent-value Deluxe Rooms
to the more spacious Premier Ocean View rooms,
boasting stunning ocean vistas. :)

Plus, with 24-hour security personnel on duty,
I felt completely safe, even during a late-night check-in.
And here's a handy tip: there's a 7-Eleven right in front of the resort!
So, if you need to grab water or snacks upon arrival in Bohol,
skip lugging heavy bags from the airport and simply pop in here. :)
2. Our Deluxe Room, 211!

I opted for the fantastic-value Deluxe Room.
Good news for groups: most rooms at Modala Resort
can comfortably accommodate up to three guests!
Our Deluxe Room featured two comfortable queen beds,
making it perfect for up to three adults.
The room itself was incredibly spacious,
easily accommodating three of us with plenty of room to spare.
It's definitely one of those resorts that's ideal for both family vacations
and getaways with friends!

The bedding felt wonderfully fresh and dry, never damp.
And I absolutely loved that the floors were hardwood instead of carpet –
such a win! 😂

Now, I booked a standard Deluxe Room,
so I didn't get an ocean view this time around.
But I can tell you, if you snag an ocean view room,
you'll definitely be soaking up those quintessential resort vibes! :)
Every room here comes with a balcony,
perfect for stepping out and soaking in those ocean views,
and it’s also super handy for drying your swimsuits.
Mine didn't really have a view though, so I didn't venture out much. Haha!

Since the room itself is so wonderfully spacious,
it was more than enough room for three women with plenty of luggage.
From the luggage rack and TV shelf,
to the desk-slash-vanity and even a cozy sofa area,
there was just so much space, which I absolutely loved! :)

Inside the closet, you’ll find robes and plenty of
hangers readily available.
Disposable slippers were also provided for each person,
so we could all comfortably
wear them around.

Oh, and for water,
make sure to grab some from the Seven-Eleven right in front of the resort.
While water is provided in these glass bottles,
it’s generally best to avoid drinking water that's not sealed, as the water quality in the Philippines can be a bit iffy.
Better safe than sorry!

Given that this is definitely one of Bohol's newer resorts,
the bathroom space was impressively clean and spacious too.
Bathtubs vary by room type,
and our Deluxe room, for example, didn't have one.
It only had a shower.
All the basic amenities you'd expect
are all thoughtfully provided.
3. The Swimming Pool
Operating Hours: 07:00 ~ 20:00

Overlooking Doljo Beach,
this private pool is a perfect spot for a refreshing dip.
Compared to some other Bohol resorts,
the pool might be on the smaller side,
but since the resort itself isn't massive,
it never felt overly crowded, which is a big plus!

There's also a convenient bar where you can grab drinks,
and what's better than chilling on a sunbed, taking a refreshing dip,
and truly unwinding? That's what travel is all about, right?
4. Private Beach

With plenty of sunbeds available
and Modala Resort Bohol's private beach,
it was so much quieter and more private
— a truly exclusive beach experience!
The staff were continuously present,
which made us feel very safe.
The water color was also prettier than Alona Beach,
and not too deep, so even kids
seemed to love playing there. :)
5. Breakfast

When traveling with family in Bohol,
food is often the biggest consideration, but
Modala Resort's breakfast was absolutely excellent.
From Filipino dishes to Western and Asian cuisine,
a diverse selection was offered, and the spices weren't
too strong, so most dishes really suited our taste buds.

Noodles, salads, egg dishes, bread, and so much more—
there were plenty of options to choose from,
making it easy to overeat right from the morning, haha!
6. Wrapping Up

Bohol was perfect for a family trip,
with the main areas not too far from the airport!
With beautiful clear waters and a destination where you can
enjoy both relaxation and sightseeing simultaneously,
I highly recommend a Bohol trip for anyone looking to
embark on a light family getaway.
For families and friends planning a trip,
if you're wondering where to stay,
and you're looking for a peaceful place to unwind,
I'd definitely recommend Modala Resort
for its fantastic value!
