When you search for Mithi Resort in Bohol, you'll often find posts raving about the Korean snack bar they have.
While it's totally understandable to crave a taste of home in a foreign land, I'm here to tell you that Filipino food is incredibly delicious! Seriously, it's amazing, but many visitors seem to miss out on its fantastic flavors. ㅠㅠ
Mithi Resort is a popular choice for those seeking a private and secluded getaway.
However, it is located about 15-20 minutes by car from Bohol's main bustling areas, which can make dining out for every meal a bit inconvenient.
Having lived in the Philippines for over five years,
I've got some insider tips for you.
Today, I want to recommend the must-try local dishes at Mithi Resort's in-house restaurant,
Cafe Luisa.

I've given the Mango Shake its own photo for a very important reason:
You ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY, MUST order it here!
Many people assume all mango shakes in the Philippines are equally delicious, but that's not always the case. Some places unfortunately dilute the flavor by adding coconut milk.
But here at Cafe Luisa, their mango shake is the real deal. It’s made purely with fresh mango and ice.
Trust me, you won't regret trying it!

1. Sinigang na Hipon (Shrimp Sinigang)
Considered a national favorite, much like kimchi stew in Korea, this is a sour and refreshing soup. It’s made with shrimp and various vegetables, flavored with tamarind (sampaloc) for that distinct tangy kick.
2. Pancit Canton
This is a Filipino stir-fried noodle dish, similar to Korea's Japchae. It features egg noodles and glass noodles tossed with meat, shrimp, and vegetables in a savory soy-based sauce.
3. Chicken Inasal
A Filipino-style grilled chicken, marinated in a flavorful blend of calamansi, garlic, shallots, and lemongrass, then grilled over charcoal until golden brown and tender.
There's even a famous Inasal chain called Mang Inasal!

4. Calamares
This is simply fried calamari (squid). It’s a perfect light snack, especially after a swim, and goes great with a cold beer!
⭐ Quick Tip ⭐
You might find yourself craving something spicy while enjoying your meal. When that happens,
just tell your server, 'Soy sauce with labuyo, please.'
They'll bring you soy sauce with chopped bird's eye chilies (labuyo).
Be warned, eating the chilies whole can be VERY spicy!
If you're not a huge spice-lover but still want that kick, simply mash the labuyo with your spoon, squeeze in some calamansi juice, and then dip your food in it. You can also drizzle this mixture over fried rice for a unique flavor. It's how many Filipinos (and I!) enjoy it!
The food at Cafe Luisa consistently exceeds expectations.
While Gerry's Grill is also famous, if you prefer a peaceful, relaxing experience within your resort while enjoying authentic Filipino cuisine, I believe Cafe Luisa is unparalleled.
For those looking for a quiet vacation in Bohol,
Mithi Resort is definitely worth checking out. You'll find plenty to enjoy without even needing to venture into the bustling town centers.
I hope this post helps you plan your delicious journey!
Happy travels! ❤️
