Craving authentic Mexican street tacos in Los Angeles? Leo's Tacos Truck is a must-visit, especially for their legendary Al Pastor, carved fresh off the spit.
LA is absolutely brimming with taco spots,
but let's be honest, we often find ourselves returning to our usual favorites.
Among them,
one taco joint I absolutely have to recommend is
Leo's Tacos Truck.

Taco Truck Locations
Leo's Tacos has multiple locations across LA,
making it super accessible.

I usually frequent
✔ Sunset Branch
📍 5525 Sunset Blvd
5525 Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90028 USA
✔ La Brea Branch (Original Location)
📍 1515 S La Brea Ave
1515 S La Brea Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90019 USA
I go to these two spots often,
but personally,
I find the La Brea branch tastes even better.
The La Brea branch is pretty much the original spot.
It all started here in 2010,
and its popularity led to all these fantastic branches popping up.
The Real Deal: Al Pastor Tacos
When you think of Leo's Tacos, the first thing that comes to mind is definitely
their Al Pastor tacos.

The marinated pork piled high on a giant trompo
is slowly roasted and then sliced right off, creating an incredible blend of
smoky char, sweet pineapple, and juicy succulence.
This combo is absolutely divine.

If you're getting it to-go,
they'll wrap it up in foil for you. If you're eating here,
they'll serve it on a paper plate.

🌮 Taco Types 🌮
✔ Al Pastor 🌮🌮🌮
Seasoned pork, roasted on a trompo and sliced.
The combination with pineapple is out of this world!
✔ Asada 🌮🌮
Grilled beef (with a smoky, grilled flavor)
A savory style with a rich, authentic meat flavor.
(One Al Pastor taco and one Asada taco
is also a fantastic combination!)
✔ Carnitas 🌮
Braised pork (slow-cooked in fat until tender)
Soft, tender, and incredibly moist.
Recommended if you love rich, fatty flavors!
✔ Chorizo 🌮
Mexican sausage
Slightly spicy + strong aroma
✔ Cabeza 🌮
Beef head meat
Incredibly tender with a jelly-like texture.
✔ Lengua 🌮🌮
Beef tongue, incredibly tender, and I absolutely love it...!
Everyone goes to Japan for Gyutan, grilled beef tongue, right?
Give this a try!
✔ Buche 🌮
Pork stomach (offal)
Chewy texture
✔ Pollo 🌮
Chicken, a solid choice!
That familiar taste we all know and love.
✔ Tripa 🌮🌮🌮
Beef intestines, tripe
Can be crispy or soft.
If you want it crispy,
just ask for it to be 'crispy'!
My second favorite taco after Al Pastor.

🥤 Drink Menu🥤

✔ Horchata
A delightful drink made with rice, cinnamon, and sugar.
Sweet and refreshing.
It has a subtle taste, a bit like a gentle morning sunbeam, wouldn't you say?
✔ Jamaica
A vibrant drink made from hibiscus flowers.
Sweet and tangy, with a hint of bitterness.
Highly recommended if you love refreshing flavors!
✔ Piña
A sweet and tangy pineapple drink.
Exactly the flavor you know and love.
To really get that authentic local vibe, try pairing your tacos with traditional Mexican drinks like Horchata or Jamaica.
Of course, I just went for a Coke myself! ^^

They have both canned and bottled Coke, and you can open the bottle right here.
Taco Prices & Menu
✔ Tacos are 2.5 USD each.
Considering today's prices, this is unbeatable value for money.
Long-time customers might exclaim, 'Tacos are 2 USD each now?!' but...
Seriously, tacos here are the king of value-for-money food in LA.

Once you've ordered, they'll call out the number on your receipt, and you can pick up your food right here.
Sauces & Toppings (The Heart of the Taco!)

Here you can grab onions, cilantro, sauces, and napkins.

They used to have three sauces, but I noticed a new orange sauce was added yesterday.
I'm not sure what it is, but I tried it and wow, it's super spicy! ㅠ

Red - Chili Sauce
Bottom Left Green - Serrano Pepper Sauce
Bottom Right Green - Cilantro Sauce
Warning: all of these are spicy! ;;

Your receipt has a number, and when they call it, you can go pick up your tacos.
And on your way back, load up your tacos with a generous amount of onions and cilantro.
Once at your table, try the sauces little by little, then a squeeze of lime, and you're all set.

Piles of onions and cilantro!
They're mixed together, so you can't really pick out the cilantro...
I usually can't stand cilantro, even back in Korea, but the cilantro in these tacos is barely noticeable, so I can enjoy them just fine.
Still, I can't bring myself to eat cilantro in pho or other dishes, sadly. ㅠㅠ
⚠️ Heads Up for Your Visit ⚠️
Payment methods vary by branch,
and most taco trucks only accept cash.
✔ The Sunset branch accepts cards (except Amex)
✔ The La Brea branch is cash only!!!
If you go without knowing, you might be caught off guard, and there could be an unfortunate incident like a card machine breaking down,
so
always carry cash

The surroundings of the taco trucks aren't exactly pristine.
Especially at night, be aware of your surroundings,
keep a close eye on your belongings,
and it's important not to let your guard down.
But this is exactly that authentic LA vibe from the GTA games...
💥🔫

Tacos eaten standing on the street,
the sizzling sound of meat grilling,
and the bustling atmosphere filled with people —
California naturally has Mexican culture woven into its fabric,
so this taco culture is simply a part of everyday life.
If you want to experience that authentic local LA vibe,
even if it's not specifically Leo's Tacos,
you absolutely must visit a taco truck!
The Sunset location accepts card payments, excluding Amex. On the other hand, the La Brea location only accepts cash, so it's advisable to prepare cash when visiting.
The most famous menu item at Leo's Tacos is the Al Pastor taco. It features a combination of seasoned pork cooked on a large trompo and sliced, served with pineapple.
Tacos at Leo's Tacos truck cost $2.50 each. This is considered a good value meal in LA.
The La Brea location is where Leo's Tacos first started in 2010, effectively serving as its original branch. The author personally mentioned recommending the taste at the La Brea location more.
