Discover Le Gentilhomme in Sapporo, a legendary French restaurant offering Michelin-caliber lunch courses and world-class wine pairings in Susukino.

When planning my trip to Sapporo,
one of the dining experiences I was most excited about
was exploring Hokkaido's legendary French culinary scene.
To put it simply:
"This was an absolute masterclass in classic French dining,
offering a level of quality and elegance that would cost
double or triple the price back home."
Le Gentilhomme has long been whispered about among global foodies
and top culinary insiders as a must-visit destination in Hokkaido.
My expectations were sky-high,
but the moment we stepped inside,
the experience exceeded every single one of them!

📍 Le Gentilhomme
Sun Plaza Sapporo 1F, Minami 4 Jonishi, 8-chome-2-1-3, Chuo Ward, Sapporo, Hokkaido 064-0804
I treated my parents to this meal, which made it even more special.
Here is my fully honest, self-funded review of the
Lunch Course B at Le Gentilhomme!
Why Lunch 'Course B' is a Must for Families

Since this Sapporo trip was a family vacation with my parents,
I spent hours researching the perfect dining spots.
Le Gentilhomme offers two main options for lunch,
and we opted for the more indulgent Course B.
✅ Course A (Approx. ~$39 / 6,050 JPY)
: A lighter, wonderful introduction to their style
✅ Course B (Approx. ~$62 / 9,680 JPY)
: 2 Appetizers + Fish Course + Meat Course + 2 Desserts + Coffee/Tea

Course B is absolutely worth the upgrade.
The premium quality of the ingredients and the stunning presentation
were in a league of their own.
Considering that a comparable fine dining lunch in New York or Seoul
easily starts at well over $100 per person,
this multi-course feast for around $62 is an unbelievable steal.

My parents were smiling from ear to ear throughout the meal,
deeply touched by the impeccable, warm hospitality!
An Unforgettable Wine Pairing Recommendation
What is French fine dining without a great glass of wine?
I generally prefer red wines that are smooth,
fruit-forward, and not overly dry.

The sommelier recommended a bottle
that turned out to be one of the best wines I've ever tasted.
• Wine: Vosne-Romanée
• Region: Burgundy Pinot Noir
• Price: Approx. ~$128 / 20,000 JPY at the restaurant
An incredibly elegant and velvety Pinot Noir
with a beautifully aromatic finish, perfect even for beginners.

Though the bottle of wine cost more than our individual lunch courses,
the pairing with the food was so utterly flawless
that we didn't regret it for a second.
The Grand Finale: A Trolley of 8 Decadent Desserts
The sweet ending to our meal
was nothing short of a dream.
The staff presented a massive platter featuring
about eight different varieties of delicate, house-made desserts
served like fine jewelry.

The best part?
"You are welcome to choose as many as you like!"
announced our host with a warm smile.
They truly understand the joy of wanting
a little taste of everything...

From silky puddings and crisp macarons to rich cakes,
picking out our favorites made the end of the meal
an interactive, joyful highlight of our trip.
A freshly brewed cup of coffee or tea
brought this incredible dining experience to a close.

A Timeless Classic You Can't Easily Find Elsewhere
While modern fine dining restaurants are popping up everywhere,
there is something deeply magical about a place like Le Gentilhomme,
which has preserved its classic, old-school European charm
right in the heart of Sapporo for decades.

It doesn't rely on over-the-top gimmicks—just flawless technique,
and a level of service that makes every guest feel like royalty.
It's easy to see why discerning local food lovers
and international culinary travelers keep returning year after year!
