LACMA stands for
the Los Angeles County Museum of Art.
Every year, from May to October,
they host free outdoor jazz performances
every Friday evening.
This year, the series is celebrating its incredible 35th anniversary!
For LA locals,
it's truly the quintessential summer evening experience.
It's free, and you don't even need a reservation!
Just show up and enjoy.

① What time should you arrive to snag the best spots? |
This is the most important tip!
When I finished work
and arrived right at 6 PM,
there were hardly any seats left...
If you end up sitting behind the stage,
it's hard to hear the jazz music clearly.
And you can't see the stage well either...
Even the back has a great vibe though!
But it's still a little disappointing, isn't it? 😅

If you arrive between
4 PM ~ 4:30 PM,
there are plenty of front-row spots.
The more people in your group,
the safer it is to go even earlier.
② What should you bring? |
A mat is essential.
Many people enjoy sitting on the grass,
so having a mat makes it much more comfortable.
If you can't prepare one in advance, you can buy one at Target
or a nearby Daiso for $10~15.

However, it's exceptionally permitted
during Jazz Night.
It's that casual outdoor drinking experience
I've missed so much...
Sipping on a beer or wine while listening
to jazz really transforms the atmosphere.
It's a moment when the romance factor goes up by 200%.
You can buy drinks at the on-site cafe, but
the lines are long and they're pricey,
so it's better to buy them beforehand!
④ What about food? |
Locals often bring their own
packed meals.
If you want to relax, eat, and enjoy the experience,
it's best to prepare your food in advance.
You can also buy food on-site.
· LACMA Cafe: It's located inside.
On Fridays, it gets crowded, so expect lines.
Food options are limited and pricey.
· Food Trucks: You might find them behind the park,
but they vary.
Uber Eats delivery is an option,
but unlike places with designated
pickup spots (like Seoul's Han River),
finding your driver might be
a bit tricky.
It’s easiest to eat beforehand
or pack your own snacks!
Coming with a full belly and simply
soaking in the ambiance is
wonderful too 😊

Yes, there's a parking lot available.
Parking Fee: $23 for the day,
$15 if you enter after 8 PM
Pritzker Parking Garage
The entrance is on 6th St.
On Friday evenings,
the parking garage queue can be massive,
and if you don't arrive early,
you might be waiting outside for a while to get your car out.
However,
if you plan to drink, definitely use Uber or Lyft.
Catch the Metro E Line, and it drops you
right in front of LACMA.
