Ready to dive into the ultimate Southern California adventure? Today, I'm taking you along on my day-long Los Angeles city tour.
After catching a cozy outdoor movie on a rooftop on my first night in LA, I kicked off my second day with a packed sightseeing tour of the city's most iconic landmarks.
If you're short on time but want to experience the absolute best of LA, this one-day itinerary is the perfect way to go. I booked my tour through my guesthouse, but you can easily find fantastic local day tours on popular booking platforms to match your schedule.
In this first episode of our LA series, I'll walk you through five must-visit spots: Lake Hollywood Park, Hollywood Boulevard & the Walk of Fame, the Dolby Theatre, the TCL Chinese Theatre, and the famous Paul Smith Pink Wall.

Lake Hollywood Park & The Hollywood Sign
When you think of LA, the iconic Hollywood Sign immediately comes to mind!
For one of the best and closest views of the sign, head over to Lake Hollywood Park.
It's a lovely grassy park where you can enjoy a relaxing picnic. If you walk just a bit further up the hill, you'll find a perfect, unobstructed angle to photograph the sign. Pro tip: Visit in the morning to beat the crowds and catch the best lighting!

Hollywood Boulevard & The Walk of Fame
Next up is Hollywood Boulevard, the beating heart of LA tourism.
Stretching for over a mile along the sidewalks, you'll find the Hollywood Walk of Fame, where the names of legendary actors, directors, and musicians are immortalized in brass stars.
The street is incredibly lively, packed with souvenir shops, street performers, and vendors. It's an absolute blast to wander around!
Just a quick heads-up: because it's a major tourist hotspot, keep a close eye on your personal belongings while exploring.

Dolby Theatre & TCL Chinese Theatre
Located right on Hollywood Boulevard, these two legendary theatres are must-sees.
The Dolby Theatre is the official home of the Academy Awards. You can walk up the very same grand staircase where Hollywood's elite walk the red carpet every year!
Right next door is the historic TCL Chinese Theatre, which opened in 1927 and features striking, temple-style architecture. It has hosted several Academy Awards ceremonies in its time.
The main draw here is the forecourt, which is filled with concrete handprints, footprints, and signatures of the world's biggest movie stars. Finding your favorite celebrity's prints is half the fun!

The Paul Smith Pink Wall
No trip to LA is complete without stopping at one of the city's most Instagrammed spots!
The vibrant, solid pink exterior of the Paul Smith store on Melrose Avenue makes for an incredibly chic and colorful backdrop. It's the perfect spot to capture that quintessential LA aesthetic.
Because it's so popular, you might have to wait in a brief line during weekends or sunny afternoons. I arrived around 11:00 AM on a weekday and had plenty of space to take photos without the rush. I highly recommend heading there early in the day!

Lake Hollywood Park is open 24 hours a day, and admission is completely free. If you visit in the morning, you can take pictures with the Hollywood Sign in the background or enjoy a picnic on the lawn in a relatively quiet atmosphere.
At the Dolby Theatre, you can see the actual stairs where the Academy Awards' red carpet event takes place. At the TCL Chinese Theatre, which opened in 1972, you can view the handprints and footprints left by world-famous movie stars.
This area is packed with tourists gathered to see the stars engraved with celebrities' names and various souvenir shops. Therefore, you must pay special attention to your personal belongings in the crowded areas.
It is recommended to visit early in the morning, as it can get crowded during weekends or afternoons, requiring you to wait in line. The author of the article visited around 11 AM and was able to take pictures quite comfortably.
