Looking for the perfect base in Hokkaido? Our Keio Prelia Hotel Sapporo review highlights its spacious rooms, public bath, and prime location near the station.
If you're planning your very first trip to Sapporo,
here is a quick review of where I stayed!
I recently took a self-guided trip to Sapporo, Hokkaido,
and compared whether it is better to stay near Sapporo Station
or Susukino Station.
If you are traveling in summer or autumn,
honestly, either location works great.
But for a winter trip, with all that heavy snow,
dragging suitcases around can be a real hassle.
So, I highly recommend staying right near Sapporo Station!
Especially if you plan on doing day trips to
Otaru or Biei, Sapporo Station is the absolute best base camp.
Looking for a spacious hotel near Sapporo Station
where you can actually lay out your suitcases?
Keio Prelia Hotel Sapporo is the perfect choice.
It's just a 5 to 7-minute walk from the station,
features a fantastic public bath (large public bath),
offers daily housekeeping, and even has self-service luggage lockers,
so you don't waste any time checking your bags in or out.
Most of all, the rooms are spacious enough to open up your bags easily,
making it an overall super satisfying hotel stay.

1. Perfect Location & Seamless Transit Near Sapporo Station

After taking the JR train from Sapporo's New Chitose Airport
and arriving at Sapporo Station,
getting to the hotel was an absolute breeze.
It's literally just a 5 to 7-minute walk away,
and thanks to the underground pedestrian walkway,
taking the shortcut made the trip super quick and easy.
Since it's a relatively new hotel that opened in September 2019,
it felt incredibly modern, safe, and secure,
and the overall cleanliness and service were top-notch.

I loved having a Seicomart right in front of the hotel!

Since Seicomart is a convenience store unique to Hokkaido, I got to enjoy delicious local snacks every single day!

2. Room on the 15th Floor: Surprisingly Spacious for Japan!

Room 1524
The check-in process was smooth and seamless.
Usually, Japanese hotel lobbies get super crowded during check-in and check-out times
with guests trying to drop off or pick up their luggage.
But here, they have self-service lockers, so everyone can easily
store and retrieve their bags on their own.
As a result, the lobby was never cluttered with suitcases!

It was so convenient to have lights and outlets on both sides of the double bed!

Comes with a table, chairs, mini-fridge, air purifier, bathrobes, and slippers
Most hotels in Japan tend to be on the cozier, smaller side,
but at Keio Prelia Hotel Sapporo,
I actually had plenty of room to keep my suitcases open!
I kept my 25-inch suitcase laid open right under the desk,
and used the space near the entrance for my larger 28-inch suitcase,
opening and closing it as I needed.
(Actually, there was enough space in front of the desk to have both laid open at the same time!)
Since I stayed for 3 nights and 4 days,
I unpacked most of my clothes and hung them up,
only fully spreading out the suitcases on my shopping days and the final night.

There’s a handy shelf under the TV,
which was perfect for laying out items I needed to grab frequently.
They provide a capsule coffee machine, coffee cups, tea bags, and even wine glasses.
There's also a mini-fridge, and they restocked it with 2 free bottles of water every day—
a great way to save a little extra pocket money!
Aside from the main closet, there are extra wall hooks and hangers,
making it super easy to keep all my outfits neat and organized.

The interior has a clean, minimalist style,
but the warm wood tones and soft lighting make it feel incredibly cozy!
The quality of the daily restocked amenities was also quite impressive.
They provide shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, but you might want to
bring your own body lotion.
Instead of body cream, they do offer single-use packets of body milk,
which you can request at the lobby front desk.
The shower room, toilet, and sink are all in separate spaces.
The water pressure and temperature in the shower/bathtub were excellent,
and they replaced the towels with fresh ones every single day.
3. Amenities & Services: Public Bath, Lockers, Lounge, etc.
The reason I highly recommend
Keio Prelia Hotel Sapporo isn't just because
of its unbeatable location near Sapporo Station,
but also because of the incredible
guest services they offer!

Public Bath (Sento)
If you love relaxing after a long day of walking,
you'll definitely want a hotel with a great public bath.
And yes, guests get free access to the 2nd-floor public bath!
I'm usually not the biggest public bath person myself,
but the reviews for the bath at Keio Prelia Hotel Sapporo were fantastic.
Since it's a newer hotel, there are no water stains or unpleasant odors,
and other travelers mentioned it was impeccably clean and well-maintained even late at night.

They give you public bath tickets at check-in
During my Sapporo trip,
I spent a lot of days exploring nearby areas
like Asahikawa, Biei, and Otaru,
so I opted out of the hotel breakfast.
Honestly, even without hotel breakfast in Japan,
there are so many delicious options around, from convenience store treats to local eateries!
Breakfast Hours
6:00 AM – 10:30 AM
Breakfast Price for Guests
Adults: 2,500 JPY (~$16) / Children (Ages 6-12): 1,250 JPY (~$8)
Once breakfast hours are over,
the breakfast area becomes a free lounge space
available to all guests from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM.
If you're visiting for business
or have some urgent work to wrap up,
it's a fantastic spot to get things done
without having to hunt down a nearby cafe.

On the second floor, you'll find a dedicated locker room
with spacious lockers that easily fit a 28-inch suitcase.
Since you use your own room card key to access them,
you can check out and stash your bags right there.
After enjoying your final day luggage-free,
just grab your bags and drop your card key
into the express key drop box on your way to the airport. Super convenient!

The 2nd floor also features a laundry room, microwave, and vending machines.

☞ Additional amenities available upon request at Keio Prelia Hotel Sapporo
Unwinding in the public bath (onsen-style) at the end of the day is amazing,
and the cozy guest lounge is perfect for relaxing anytime.
Plus, the self-service luggage lockers
that you can use before check-in and after check-out
let you explore the city completely hands-free.
This convenience alone is a huge reason
to choose this hotel!
There’s also a great selection of rental items
available on request, making the stay incredibly comfortable.

Usually on trips to Japan, we run around so much
that the hotel is just a place to sleep—but Sapporo was different.
After returning from day trips to the outskirts of Sapporo,
having a cozy, comfortable place to truly recharge
made the overall quality of our trip so much better.
Highly recommended as a top Sapporo Station stay,
Keio Prelia Hotel is perfect
for both couples and family trips!

It was super easy to get back and forth to Susukino Station via the subway.
Oh, and one more thing!
Hokkaido University is right nearby.
You can actually see it from the window, and the walking paths are beautiful.
It's highly recommended to take a peaceful stroll there early in the morning!

It is about a 5 to 7-minute walk from Sapporo Station. You can use the underground pedestrian walkway from the subway station as a shortcut for an even easier trip.
The hotel has large lockers on the 2nd floor that can accommodate up to 28-inch suitcases. It is very convenient as you can store your luggage yourself using a key card, and simply drop the key into the express return box before heading to the airport.
Yes, the rooms are quite spacious, so you can easily open a 25-inch suitcase under the desk. You can also use the space in front of the door or desk to open and close a 28-inch suitcase without any issues.
After breakfast hours from 6:00 AM to 10:30 AM, the space is open to all guests as a lounge from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM. It is a great place to get some quick work done or simply relax.
