If you're planning a Maldives honeymoon,
from costs and currency exchange to itinerary and resort selection,
a well-organized review like this is truly invaluable, right?
While this trip wasn't technically my honeymoon,
I came back with a strong conviction:
This place would be absolutely perfect for a honeymoon!
Of course, it was also wonderful as a family trip with my mom.
I've heard many people are traveling to the Maldives solo these days,
and I'd recommend it for solo travelers too, as it's a new Maldives resort that would appeal to
everyone, without exception!
Today, I'll honestly share everything I experienced during my 4-night, 5-day stay at the JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa,
including the all-inclusive system, water activities,
currency exchange, Maldives honeymoon costs, and even tips.
Maldives Entry & Currency Exchange Tips
Arrived at Velana International Airport via Singapore from Incheon!
Since our flight arrived at night, we stayed one night on Malé Island,
and the next morning, a mere 15-minute speedboat ride brought us to
the JW Marriott Resort!
This resort doesn't require a seaplane transfer,
which made the arrival after a long-haul flight incredibly comfortable.
✔️ Currency Exchange Tips
In the Maldives, using US Dollars (USD) is standard.
- Resorts, airports, and shops all accept USD payments.
- Tipping culture is essential.
(For example, I tipped ~$2 daily for room cleaning, ~$2 for turn-down service, ~$2 for luggage handling,
~$4 for a floating breakfast for two, ~$5 for an excursion, and ~$20 because they celebrated my birthday.)
For a 4-night stay, I think I used about ~$100 in total.
While most payments can be made by card,
tips are best given in cash!

Among the Water Villas and Beach Villas, we stayed in a Water Pool Villa.
The moment I stepped into the room, I was greeted by an infinite ocean view and
a private pool...
In that moment, it truly hit me: I was back in the Maldives.
It was a breathtaking realization.
Every room comes with a private swimming pool,
and with the all-inclusive system managing everything from room service and the mini-bar to dinner reservations,
all we had to do after checking in was simply relax.
With all meals and drinks included,
the financial burden was significantly reduced,
allowing for a delightful routine of eating, swimming, and eating again!
Of course, if you want to save a little more on your Maldives honeymoon costs,
opting for half-board is another great option.

Culinary Experiences at 7 Restaurants & Romantic Beach Dinners
The resort boasts a total of 7 restaurants and bars.
a buffet, Indian Ocean cuisine, Japanese cuisine, a steakhouse,
a beach bar, and more – you'll have the pleasure of dining with a different menu every day.

On the night of our fourth day, we booked a romantic beach dinner.
A table set up right in the middle of the beach, candlelight and lanterns,
and even starlight.
With a course meal grilled directly by the chef, and a glass of champagne
paired with it, that time spent gazing at the Maldivian sea
was truly an unforgettable moment.
Although it wasn't included in the all-inclusive package,
it was well worth the additional cost,
and a truly perfect dining experience.
(Highly recommended for honeymoon couples!)
Activity Highlights - Snorkeling, Nurse Shark Tour, Sunset Dolphin Cruise
Excursions are truly the highlight of a Maldives resort.
We started with group snorkeling,
a Nurse Shark snorkeling tour, and even a Sunset Dolphin Cruise.
We experienced them all.
During the Nurse Shark snorkeling tour, we wanted to see the sharks from a wider perspective from above,
so we brought a drone.
Wow... dozens of nurse sharks were gracefully swimming.
Actually getting into the water and swimming alongside the sharks was
literally a moment only possible in the Maldives.
Around 4 PM, we boarded the Sunset Dolphin Cruise~
From a distance, a pod of dolphins appeared, cutting through the waves.
Their appearance was so adorable that I can still recall it vividly.
And we even saw pilot whales before the dolphins!
It was truly an incredible stroke of luck.
All these itineraries were seamlessly connected as part of the all-inclusive package,
allowing us to enjoy both relaxation and adventure without the stress of managing schedules.
