🍵 Jozankei Yurakusoan's Complimentary Snack Time

**Jozankei Onsen Ryokan Yurakusoan** truly excels when it comes to complimentary snacks.
The first complimentary treat you can enjoy at the 1st-floor Tea Lounge is a **Tea Buffet & Potato Snacks**.
**From 3 PM to 7 PM, tea and desserts** are available,
and "**Hokkaido potato snacks** are offered from **6 PM to 7 PM**.
You can choose from over ten varieties of tea to suit your preference,
and the Hokkaido potatoes were simply divine with their savory, chewy texture.

Coffee machines and various teas are lined up.
With over ten types of tea available, you can pick your favorite.

The much-anticipated potatoes have arrived!
Hokkaido potatoes are famous, and I really wanted to try them.

Seasoned perfectly with soy sauce,
they were incredibly delicious and delightfully chewy!

Opposite the tea buffet, you'll find a coffee vending machine and more tea options.
There's also a spacious area where you can relax,
and many guests were comfortably seated, enjoying conversations.
🛁 Private Onsen (Reserved Bath) Review

On the first basement level, you'll find vending machines, the public bath, a lounge, and the private reserved baths.
Without a doubt, the highlight of Yurakusoan is its **private reserved baths**.
These private reserved baths are available on a first-come, first-served basis; no reservation is needed if they are vacant,
and a light indicates when one is occupied.
I chose the **Rock Bath**, and indulging in a private outdoor onsen was pure, unadulterated healing.
It's easy to see why **Jozankei Ryokan Yurakusoan** is so popular!
Types of Private Reserved Baths
1️⃣ Rock Bath
2️⃣ Hinoki (Cypress) Bath
3️⃣ Ceramic Bath
4️⃣ Hiba (Aomori Hiba Cypress) Bath

The second complimentary snack is
In the lounge across from the grand communal bath,
they offer free ice cream and yogurt (available from 5 AM to 10 AM) to enjoy after your hot spring soak.
A refreshing snack after a hot spring soak? Absolutely perfect!

For the third complimentary treat,
from 10 PM to 11 PM, it's free ramen time!
It's super popular, so the queues can get long – I highly recommend heading there a bit early.
(I arrived just before 10:10 PM and got a ticket, and the wait was perfectly manageable then!)
As it's a late-night snack, the portion isn't overly generous.
Perhaps my expectations were a little too high, but I ended up just eating the noodles and skipped the broth.

And for the fourth free goodie,
it's the snacks available at the restaurant entrance during dinner time.
Perhaps I arrived a little late, as there weren't many snacks left when I got there.
Still, I managed to grab a couple of treats!

Back in the room,
before dinner, I indulged in the private onsen.
(Just press that button, and the soothing hot spring water flows!)
I was feeling pretty worn out,
but this is exactly why you visit a ryokan – for moments like these!

They let you know your dinner time when you check in,
and it seemed like there wasn't an option to choose a specific slot.
So, at 7:30 PM sharp, off I went to the restaurant!
(You do get to choose your breakfast time for the next day, though!)

Here's a look at the dinner course menu.
You get to choose from two dishes, so pick whichever suits your palate best!

Here's our table, all beautifully set up in advance.

I was traveling with a child, and I was so touched that they thoughtfully provided a high chair and children's tableware.

Each course is meticulously prepared,
However, if you're not a fan of seafood, your mileage may vary.
I personally enjoyed about half of the dishes 😊

We also ordered two types of sake to try.
The ambiance is absolutely perfect for enjoying a glass of sake.

Here's a look at the breakfast menu.
Unlike dinner, there wasn't a Korean menu, which was a slight shame,
but thankfully, an English menu was available.

Breakfast was simple but hearty.
I think the grilled fish and tamagoyaki (rolled omelet) were the best.
