02. Jiuzhaigou Park Map

Entering Jiuzhaigou from the main gate, the park is shaped like a 'Y', with Nuorilang serving as its central hub.
From Nuorilang, the valley branches off into the Rize Valley on the right and the Zechawa Valley on the left.
The section from the Entrance to Nuorilang is the Shuzheng Valley (featuring attractions like Shuzheng Lakes and Tibetan villages).
The right branch, Rize Valley, leads to iconic spots like Five Flower Lake, Pearl Shoal Waterfall, and Arrow Bamboo Lake.
And the left branch, Zechawa Valley, will take you to Long Lake and Five-Colored Lake.
These names might sound a bit foreign at first,
but don't worry! Below, I'll walk you through the itinerary we followed,
highlighting all the must-see spots!
03. Our Actual Jiuzhaigou Itinerary
📌Jiuzhaigou Itinerary
Long Lake → Five-Colored Lake → Five Flower Lake → Pearl Shoal Waterfall
Nuorilang Central Center (Lunch) → Nuorilang Waterfall → Tiger Lake
→ Shuzheng Tibetan Village → Shuzheng Lakes
We started our adventure by taking the shuttle bus from the entrance,
heading straight to Long Lake, then seeing Five-Colored Lake.
Next, we moved to the Rize Valley area to marvel at Five Flower Lake and then Pearl Shoal Waterfall.
After exploring Nuorilang Waterfall and Tiger Lake,
we wrapped up our tour passing through Shuzheng Tibetan Village and the Shuzheng Lakes.
📍 Long Lake (长海)

Long Lake is the largest, deepest, and highest lake in Jiuzhaigou,
stretching approximately 7.5 km long, 600 m wide, and covering an area of around 300,000 square meters.
Fed by melted snow and underground springs,
its unique water source keeps its levels consistent throughout all four seasons,
earning it the affectionate title, the 'Mother of Jiuzhaigou's Lakes'.
For context, Jiuzhaigou's entrance begins at an elevation of approximately 2,000 meters (6,560 feet) above sea level,
and Long Lake, sitting at approximately 3,100m to 3,500m (10,170 – 11,480 feet) above sea level, is the highest point.
📍 Five-Color Pond (Wǔcǎi Chí)

Along with Five Flower Lake, Five-Color Pond is one of the most famous spots in Jiuzhaigou.
It's close to Long Lake, so you can take a shuttle,
but it's also walkable from Long Lake!
Though small in scale, the colors are truly magnificent,
which explains why there were so many people gathered right in front of it!
The mountains reflect perfectly in the absolutely emerald-colored water,
and it was just so incredibly beautiful that all I could do was gasp in awe..🤍
📍 Five Flower Lake (Wǔhuā Hǎi)

Five Flower Lake, truly one of the most breathtaking sights in all of Jiuzhaigou.
Its emerald hues, almost like milk has been stirred into them,
make it a place of unreal beauty!
The trees submerged in the water are perfectly preserved,
reportedly staying intact without decaying, thanks to the calcium carbonate content.
Even though the water is 8 meters deep, it's so incredibly clear
that you can clearly see the bottom and the fish swimming!
📍 Pearl Shoal (Zhēnzhū Hǎi) + Pearl Shoal Waterfall (Zhēnzhū Tān Pùbù)

Pearl Shoal gets its name because the waterfall's spray glistens in the sunlight,
resembling pearls!
It even served as a backdrop for the 1986 TV series adaptation of "Journey to the West."

You can actually walk along the top of this waterfall,
and that unique view really stuck with me!

This waterfall, reaching 21 meters in height and 162.5 meters in width,
flows with such a thundering roar that it almost hurts your ears.
But standing right in front of it was incredibly refreshing!
📍 Tiger Lake (Lǎohú Hǎi)

Tiger Lake is also known as Tiger's Lake,
and it's said that when autumn leaves fall, their reflection on the water's surface
resembles a tiger's stripes!

Tiger Lake, too, was a truly stunning,
crystal-clear emerald color, just like in the left picture!
📍 Shuzheng Tibetan Village

We were able to catch a glimpse of this Tibetan village on our way down.
It's one of the nine Tibetan villages located in Jiuzhaigou, China,
It's said to be the largest, most bustling, and iconic village.
In front of the village, symbolizing the Tibetan tradition,
colorful Five-Color Prayer Flags (Tartar) and
Nine White Stupas were erected.
📍 Shuzheng Qunhai (树正郡海)

Shuzheng Qunhai is a series of
19 vibrant lakes cascading and connecting over several kilometers.

With dense trees lining its banks,
the emerald-blue lakes stretch on and on.
We concluded our Jiuzhaigou exploration at Shuzheng Qunhai.
