Amidst the breathtaking scenery of Uirimji Lake, we immersed ourselves in the captivating exhibits at the Jecheon History Museum and marveled at the refreshing views of Jecheon's Yongchu Waterfall. Let me walk you through this incredible, multi-faceted itinerary.

First, we parked at the History Museum parking lot, and from there, all other attractions were easily accessible on foot.
Nearby, Jungang Market and the Life Science Museum at Jecheon Hanbang Expo Park also make excellent additions to an itinerary for families with children.

Our first stop on our Jecheon journey was the Uirimji History Museum. As Jecheon City's leading public museum, it opened in 2019 with the mission of highlighting the immense value of Uirimji Lake as a major hydraulic facility.
It was both fascinating and educational to see the evolution of irrigation culture and construction methods, tracing back to the Three Kingdoms period.
Interactive zones scattered throughout the museum kept my son engaged, allowing us to comfortably continue our exciting Chungcheongbuk-do exploration in the cool indoors. It was a perfect escape from the summer heat!
During my visit, there was a special exhibition titled <Excavation, and Preservation>, the first in a series on nationally attributed heritage. It was an insightful display, teaching us about the history unearthed in Jecheon and the heritage we must collectively protect.
The museum's manageable size and well-organized flow made it easy for my parents to navigate. There were even benches near the children's play areas, offering them a chance to rest. My son, who dreams of becoming a historian, was captivated by the exhibits.
3. Jecheon Yongchu Waterfall
Next on our Chungcheongbuk-do adventure, we headed to Jecheon's Yongchu Waterfall.

A pleasant lakeside promenade, bordered by a tranquil pine forest and calm waters, leads you to the Yongchu Waterfall Glass Observatory in just 5 to 10 minutes.
The path is wonderfully flat, making it easy for my elderly parents to walk without strain. My son, ever the explorer, excitedly chatted with young people fishing in designated areas along the way, leading the charge.
As we strolled, we saw duck boats gently floating on the lake. Even on a hot summer day, the serene and peaceful scenery was incredibly calming.
The highlight of Yongchu Waterfall, a beloved spot in Chungcheongbuk-do, is undoubtedly the glass observatory installed directly above the falls.
Standing approximately 98 feet high, this spot offers a unique blend of human engineering and natural beauty. The waterfall forms as water is released from Uirimji Lake's gates, cascading vertically down the rocky cliff – truly an impressive sight in Chungcheongbuk-do.
A bridge spans directly over the falls, with a section made of glass, allowing you to gaze straight down at the powerfully rushing water. The sheer volume and sound of the waterfall were exhilarating, and I'll admit, a little bit thrilling! This spot gained even more fame as a filming location for the popular show '1 Night 2 Days'. I hear the night views are spectacular, so a visit after dark would be a fantastic idea.
Even in the peak of summer, the expansive views and refreshing coolness brought endless smiles to my parents and son, creating cherished memories.

This waterfall, approximately 30m high, is a hybrid of artificial and natural elements, as its water cascades vertically down the rock face when Uirimji's floodgates are opened for drainage.
