Today, I want to share my absolute favorite hotel from a recent 5-day road trip along South Korea's stunning East Coast, traveling from Sokcho to Goseong. While there are plenty of ocean-view hotels near Sokcho Beach, many of them either come with a hefty price tag or feature outdated facilities.
Since I was traveling with a group of three, we needed more than just a pretty view of the water. We were looking for pristine room conditions, a great breakfast, a solid pool, and easy access to local conveniences. If you're planning a trip to the Korean coast with family or friends, this recommendation is for you.
📍 Homm Marina Sokcho Hotel
4014 Donghae-daero, Sokcho-si, Gangwon State
The location of Homm Marina Sokcho is incredibly convenient.
If your hotel is too far out of town, you end up wasting precious vacation time commuting to restaurants and attractions. Here, I found myself leaving the car behind and walking everywhere. With the beach, a massive grocery store, and the bus terminal all within a 10-minute walk, the accessibility is truly unbeatable.

Check-in: 3:00 PM / Check-out: 11:00 AM
We arrived right on time for check-in. One unique feature of this hotel is its mechanical parking tower, which is quite common in Korea's denser cities. It essentially stacks cars vertically, saving a ton of space while keeping your vehicle secure.

Take the elevator up to the 2nd floor, and you'll find the main reception area where the staff will get you sorted.

The 2nd-floor lobby is sleek and welcoming. Right next to the check-in desk is a Welcome Station—a free cafe zone exclusively for Homm Marina guests. You can grab complimentary water and coffee here to recharge after your journey.

After a smooth check-in, we were assigned a room on the 15th floor. With two fast elevators, we didn't have to wait long to head up.

For a bit of context, Homm Marina is operated by the renowned Banyan Group, the same luxury hospitality brand behind Cassia Sokcho and Banyan Tree Seoul. Knowing this, my expectations were definitely elevated.
The room had that wonderful "new hotel" feel. The overall condition was immaculate. I visit Sokcho at least three times a year, and I have never seen a hotel of this caliber in the area.

Compared to other hotels, the space was generous. I especially loved the hardwood floors instead of carpets—it felt so much cleaner and more hygienic. I travel constantly for work, and it's rare to find hardwood floors kept in such pristine condition.

All the essential amenities are provided, from welcome cookies to a mini-fridge, kettle, and hangers. There's even a cozy sofa area, giving us plenty of room to kick back and relax.

The King bed was massive and incredibly comfortable for two. Depending on your group size, you can choose different room types to comfortably accommodate three, four, or even five guests.

The bathroom layout was fantastic. It's divided into three separate zones: the shower, the toilet, and the vanity sink area. This is a lifesaver for group or family trips, as multiple people can get ready at the same time without stepping on each other's toes.

I have pretty sensitive skin, so I rarely use hotel toiletries and usually pack my own. However, Homm Marina provides high-quality shampoo, conditioner, and body wash in the shower, which I used without any issues at all.

One thing to note: due to eco-regulations in Korea, single-use items like toothbrushes are not free. They cost ~$1 each. I highly recommend just popping over to the E-mart next door to grab your own if you forgot to pack them.

Hours: 8:00 AM ~ 11:00 PM
Saturdays: 8:00 AM ~ 12:00 AM
Fee: Adults ~$25 / Children ~$19
*Pay once and enjoy unlimited entry until 11:00 AM the next day
This pool was one of the main reasons I booked this stay. We've all been disappointed by hotel pools that look massive online but turn out to be tiny puddles in reality, so I tried to keep my expectations low.

I was blown away. This is a true high-temperature heated infinity pool, feeling almost like a hot spring. The panoramic views are spectacular—you can see the majestic Ulsanbawi Rock of Mount Seorak, Cheongcho Lake, and the vast East Sea all at once.

The Homm Marina infinity pool completely exceeded my expectations. Pro tip: Skip the immediate post-check-in rush and head up during sunset. The lighting is perfect for photos, and the crowds thin out significantly.

They even offer free rentals for pool floats, kids' life jackets, and water toys. Because the entry fee covers unlimited visits until the next morning, we definitely got our money's worth.

Mon-Thu: 5:00 PM
Saturdays: 5:00 PM, 7:00 PM, 9:00 PM
Fri, Sun & Holidays: 5:00 PM, 9:00 PM
The infinity pool hosts a fun bubble party every day! I had dinner reservations and missed it, but if you're there over the weekend, it runs as late as 9:00 PM, so definitely check it out.

Guests enjoy complimentary access to the gym. As expected from a brand-new hotel, the equipment is state-of-the-art and spotless.

I fully intended to work out, but honestly, I was too exhausted from exploring. They say a "staycation" keeps you busier than a regular vacation, and I think they're right!

Homm Marina Sokcho is famous among locals and travelers alike for having one of the best hotel breakfasts in the area. This was my first time trying it, and I can confidently say it's a spread that will impress travelers of all ages.

The food is phenomenal. They offer a diverse mix of Korean, Japanese, and Western dishes. My absolute favorites were the soft, fluffy scrambled eggs and the "Ongsimi Tteokbokki"—a local specialty featuring chewy potato dough dumplings in a sweet and spicy sauce.

I’m usually pretty easy to please when it comes to food, but this breakfast genuinely blew me away. The quality is undeniable.

Also, make sure to try the fresh lettuce salad with their signature plum dressing. My travel companion couldn't stop raving about how refreshing it was!

When searching for the best hotels near Sokcho Beach, you'll see a lot of names thrown around. I compared several options before booking.
Factoring in room condition, the infinity pool, the incredible breakfast, and the walkable location, Homm Marina Sokcho Hotel delivered an exceptional experience.
If you're planning a trip to South Korea's East Coast—especially with family or older parents—this spot absolutely deserves to be at the top of your list. :)
If a great pool and a memorable breakfast are dealbreakers for your vacation, I cannot recommend Homm Marina Sokcho enough. Have a fantastic trip!
