Whenever I visit Pattaya,
I always make sure to spend at least one night on Koh Larn.
While Pattaya's city center is vibrant and convenient,
it's also perpetually busy, bustling late into the night.
Koh Larn, however, transforms after sunset,
becoming so quiet you can hear little more than the gentle lapping of waves.
This most recent trip, I brought my siblings along
to experience my favorite tranquil island escape.
We departed from Samut Prakan around 9:00 AM, arriving at Pattaya's Bali Hai Pier by 11:00 AM.
After a quick lunch, we hopped on a ferry
to Koh Larn.
I was set on finding an oceanfront room for our overnight stay,
but since it was a weekend, many places were fully booked.
Every charming spot we inquired about seemed to be out of rooms.
After checking several places,
we stumbled upon Homebeach Resort Koh Larn near a place I'd stayed before,
and luckily, they had one room left.
Looking back, we were incredibly fortunate.
If you're looking for an ocean-view room on Koh Larn on a weekend,
booking in advance will save you a lot of stress!

Walkable Distance from the Pier
Homebeach Resort Koh Larn is approximately 0.25 miles from the main pier.
It's a walkable distance even with luggage, so there was no need for a songthaew.
Conversely, Tawaen Beach is a bit further,
requiring a songthaew ride.
However, I actually preferred this location.
Being a little removed from the main tourist beaches means it's incredibly quiet at night.
Instead of late-night noise,
the sound of the waves is what you hear first.
Clean and Well-Maintained Wooden Bungalows
The bungalows are built from wood.
While the floorboards might creak a little when you walk,
the rooms are generally well-maintained and clean.
The bed was comfortable, and the air conditioning,
refrigerator, and hot water all worked perfectly.
What I particularly loved was that opening the curtains
revealed the ocean immediately.
Waking up to that view,
I truly felt the unhurried tranquility of Koh Larn,
an experience you just can't get on a day trip.
A Memorable Night by the Sea
After dropping off our bags, we immediately took a songthaew
to Tawaen Beach.
We spent hours sea walking with my siblings,
exploring the underwater world, and before we knew it,
the sun was beginning to set, signaling our return to the resort.
Once the sun had completely dipped below the horizon,
we settled onto the outdoor sofas in front of our bungalow.
We'd picked up some fresh fruit and beers from the market
and simply chatted while gazing out at the sea.
The gentle lapping of waves was right in front of us,
and in the distance, we could see the twinkling lights of Pattaya.
There were no noisy bars or huge crowds.
I cherished this quiet time on Koh Larn, much more than rushing back to Pattaya for a day trip.
I'll definitely be booking this resort again for my next visit.
Good to Know Before You Stay
Since it's a wooden building,
ants can become an issue if fruit or sweet foods are left out in the room for too long,
so it’s best to clean up any food immediately after eating.
Also, there are mosquitoes, so I highly recommend bringing mosquito repellent.
It's also good to note that you'll need to take a songthaew to get to Tawaen Beach.
On the night we stayed, one bungalow cost 2,000 THB (approximately ~$56).
Since it was a weekend, finding an available room on arrival was challenging,
and many accommodations were indeed fully booked.
During peak season or weekends, it's highly recommended to book in advance.
