Welcome to my review of the Holiday Inn Resort Alpensia Pyeongchang Hotel's Ondol room, based on my stay last December [2025]!

Nestled in the beautiful Pyeongchang Alpensia Resort, you'll find three distinct accommodation options: the Intercontinental Hotel, the Holiday Inn Resort Hotel, and the Holiday Inn & Suites.

Both the Intercontinental and the Holiday Inn Resort Hotel offer traditional hotel rooms, while the Holiday Inn & Suites features condo-style accommodations. It's easy to get them mixed up due to similar names, especially since the Holiday Inn Resort Hotel surprisingly offers traditional Ondol (Korean floor heating) rooms!
I actually made a mistake last February [2025], booking three rooms for the upcoming December [2025] holiday season, only to realize about two weeks before our trip that it was a hotel, not a condo! I ended up canceling two of the rooms.

The Holiday Inn Resort Alpensia Pyeongchang Hotel has a distinctly different vibe from the Alpensia Intercontinental Hotel. Here, you'll find a variety of room types, including traditional Korean Ondol rooms and even options with bunk beds, catering to different traveler needs.

One interesting feature of the Holiday Inn Resort Alpensia Pyeongchang Hotel is its casino, exclusively for foreign guests. The lobby isn't overly grand, and the coffee shop is smaller compared to the Intercontinental, but that also means the prices are incredibly reasonable!

Can you believe a hotel coffee shop offers coffee for just ~$2? That's an amazing deal!

As with most good hotels, the staff here were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our check-in process.

The Superior Ondol room at the Holiday Inn Resort Alpensia Pyeongchang Hotel is designed as a studio-style space. As it's a hotel room, cooking facilities are not available, which is pretty standard.

The bathroom features a bathtub, which is always a plus, especially when traveling with kids. While it shows a bit of age, it's clear the hotel maintains it meticulously, keeping everything spotless.

Being a studio apartment, there isn't much to extensively "introduce" about the layout. You'll find a small standing TV and a traditional tea table. We also requested a humidifier a few days in advance, which was provided.

Overall, the room beautifully captured the essence of a "Han-sil" (traditional Korean room) with its clean and orderly ambiance.

If you prefer hotels over condo-style accommodations and are traveling with a family of three or more, an Ondol room can certainly be more comfortable than a standard bedded room. Finding suitable hotel rooms for a family of four, especially during a ski trip, can often be a challenge.
In this regard, the Superior Ondol room at the Holiday Inn Resort Alpensia Pyeongchang Hotel could be an excellent choice for families of four looking for a cozy and authentic stay.
Holiday Inn Resort Alpensia Pyeongchang Hotel is a standard hotel, while Holiday Inn & Suites offers condo-style rooms. Although their names are similar and can cause confusion, Holiday Inn Resort Hotel specifically features Ondol (Korean traditional heated floor) rooms.
The Superior Ondol Room is a studio-type room. As it is a hotel room, cooking is not permitted. It has a bathtub, which is convenient for bathing children, and it can be a particularly suitable option for a family of four.
Coffee at the Holiday Inn Resort Alpensia Pyeongchang Hotel lobby coffee shop is relatively inexpensive, costing around ~$2. This hotel also operates a casino exclusively for foreign guests.
