Hokho Cafe in Myeongnyun-dong, near Mokpo Station
An Honest Review of a Cozy Space Full of Unexpected Charm
Hokho (酷好): To love something deeply and intensely
On the second day of my trip to Mokpo, I made sure to arrive right at opening time
to visit Hokho, an incredibly aesthetic cafe located near Mokpo Station in Myeongnyun-dong!
The name itself means "to love deeply," which instantly set high expectations
before I even stepped foot inside the door.
Plus, the name "Mokpo Hokho" just rolls off the tongue so perfectly! haha
Hokho Cafe Mokpo: Essential Information
Address: 2F, 5 Sumun-ro, Mokpo-si, Jeollanam-do
Hours: 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM (Last Order: 7:30 PM)
Closed: Every Monday

Even for seasoned travelers, finding this place can be a bit of a challenge.
We initially took a wrong turn into an alley, but after a quick U-turn
and consulting the map, we finally spotted it!
The reason it is tricky to find is simple: there is no main sign outside.
If you spot the prominent Time City building right in front of Mokpo Station,
you are in the exact right spot!
At first, you might wonder, "Is there really a cafe in this building?"
But don't let the unassuming exterior fool you. Once you walk up to the second floor,
an entirely different world awaits!

Even standing right in front of the heavy wooden door on the second floor,
we hesitated, wondering if they were actually open, before gently pushing it open.
A Quick Note Before You Visit!
Hokho operates as a "No Kids Zone" (no children under 12 allowed).
Once you step inside, you will understand why—the space is filled with delicate plants,
beautiful ceramic dishes, and fragile design objects, so keep this in mind!
Also, while the previous hours were 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, they have officially updated
their hours to 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM as of 2026.
Interior & Atmosphere

The moment you open the door, the unexpected transformation is stunning!
The lush green potted plants lined up on the shelves right by the entrance
set a deeply calming, aesthetic mood immediately.

I was surprised by how incredibly spacious and elongated
the interior actually is.
Coming right at opening allowed us to fully enjoy the quiet, peaceful atmosphere
all to ourselves—absolute perfection!

All the beautiful plants, plates, cups, and design objects
displayed throughout the cafe are actually available for purchase!
None of these are generic designs. If you love unique tableware or home decor,
you will absolutely fall in love with this place.
Browsing through the collection was half the fun of the visit.

They have arranged the seating beautifully, from cozy sofa areas
to tucked-away corner tables and intimate window seats designed for solo or duo guests.
I took so many photos that I eventually just recorded a quick video to capture the vibe! haha

The main counter is incredibly long, making it hard to capture in a single frame,

and it is lined with a stunning array of curated ceramics and cups.
The Menu at Hokho

As expected of a curated spot near Mokpo Station, the menu is beautifully handwritten.
They offer a unique selection of signature drinks and desserts that you won't find
at your average neighborhood coffee shop.

Myeongran Hoki (Pollack Roe Cookie)
Although they are famous for their carrot cake, my sister and I are absolute
savory-sweet fans. The moment we saw the "Myeongran Hoki" (Pollack Roe Cookie),
we knew we had to order it immediately.
What We Ordered & Our Honest Review
Myeongran Hoki (Pollack Roe Cookie): ~$4
Orange Sherbet: ~$4
Horecano: ~$4

The pollack roe cookie we were most curious about definitely had that addictive sweet-and-salty charm,
but for our personal taste, the savory pollack roe flavor was a bit too subtle.
Because they sell them pre-packaged in larger quantities, it felt like a bit much for a light cafe snack.
My sister and I both agreed it would be perfect if they sold smaller packs of 4
for guests to lightly sample with their drinks.
We brought the leftovers home for our parents (who also love savory-sweet treats),
and they agreed they wished the unique pollack roe flavor was just a bit stronger! haha

The Orange Sherbet my sister ordered was visually stunning and incredibly vibrant—
the perfect refreshing wake-up call for a bright Mokpo morning!

The "Horecano" I ordered is a unique signature creation combining lemon, vanilla bean, and sparkling water—and they definitely did not skimp on the real vanilla bean specs!

After giving it a good mix and taking a sip, we both went, "Oh! This tastes exactly like McCol (a classic Korean barley soda)!"
It was a very pleasant, nostalgic, and surprisingly addictive taste! haha
We were so thrilled to find such an incredibly aesthetic cafe in Mokpo after so long!
Because the space is quite large, we were just thinking about how hard it must be
for two people to keep everything clean, when we unfortunately spotted a bit of dust
gathered near the table legs, which slightly dampened the excitement. T_T
Even so, the owners were incredibly kind, the menu features drinks you can't get anywhere else,
and the overall aesthetic is undeniably top-tier!
Wrapping Up

Even the hallway leading to the restroom is pure aesthetic goals!
If you are searching for a quiet, moody, and deeply relaxing cafe near Mokpo Station,
I highly recommend checking out the unexpected charm of Hokho in Myeongnyun-dong!
Take some time to enjoy their unique menu items and the one-of-a-kind atmosphere.
