I'm excited to share three truly personal, hidden Hanoi cafes with you.
Hanoi is famous for its egg coffee, but honestly, the Hanoi weather is just too hot to enjoy it piping hot! 😩
One of these spots truly feels like a secret find,
(It's still relatively unknown, which I absolutely adore! 😄 I have a feeling it'll be famous soon though!)
Another is a well-known spot for egg coffee,
while it might have a bit of a reputation,
since it's not on the ground floor, there's still that delightful thrill of discovery,
so you could call it a 'hidden' cafe (or at least, a hidden entrance)!
And for the last Hanoi cafe, let's dive straight into the introduction right now!
Old Town Cafe
I definitely got a little lost trying to find this spot at first, haha!
Honestly, if the weather had been a bit cooler, I would've totally embraced the joy of wandering,
but Hanoi's weather... it was just too much! 😂
This was actually the very first cafe I visited right after landing in Hanoi,
and while the map clearly showed its location,
I simply couldn't find it no matter how hard I looked! 😂

This is where you go in!!
But here's the kicker – the name of the cafe I was looking for wasn't this one...
That's why I kept wandering around for ages.
But then, researching for this very post, I found out...
They're actually the same cafe! The name I knew it by was Old Town Cafe.
(If you search by location on Google Maps instead of by the name in the photo above,
it comes up as Old Town Cafe)
Once you head inside here,
It might tempt you to turn left like this,
but if you resist the urge and bravely press onward,
Ta-da~!
And suddenly, a hidden...
cafe appears!
You order on the first floor, and the cafe spans up to four floors above.
(the 4th floor is the rooftop, how cool is that?)
The second floor definitely had a 'photo zone' vibe to it,
but I completely bypassed it and continued upwards.
That path to the right leads to the third floor, but...
I couldn't resist the alluring call of the stairs beckoning me higher...
So I skipped the third floor entirely and made a grand entrance directly onto the rooftop!
Our drinks arrived.
Hold on, where did all the stunning rooftop photos go? Why are we suddenly looking at a menu?
If you're asking that very question....
Well, this cafe was the *very first one* I visited immediately after arriving in Hanoi.
And timing-wise, that means...
it was *before* I even decided to start this blog post...
😂😂😂
Back then, my photos weren't for a blog post,
I was just snapping whatever caught my eye, purely for myself...
So, that's why! 😅
But don't worry, I still managed to snap some pics of the incredible view from the rooftop!

Oh, and what did I end up ordering, you ask?
Just a classic Vietnamese iced coffee and a delicious coconut coffee.
Even though Hanoi egg coffee is famously delicious,
I had originally planned to try it,
as soon as I arrived,
and hadn't quite adjusted to the Hanoi weather yet – that intense heat!
I simply couldn't brave a hot egg coffee.
(They do offer an iced version, of course, but for some reason, I felt like egg coffee *had* to be enjoyed hot.)

I was on the rooftop, haha...
But later it got too hot, so I fled to the 3rd floor.
(They have air conditioning here!)
But as you can see in the photo, haha...
It's not very popular.
Everyone else was on the rooftop or the 2nd-floor outdoor area.
The clientele was mostly (Western) foreigners.

Cafe Dinh
Next up is Cafe Dinh.
This place is quite famous for Hanoi's egg coffee.
Finding this place wasn't too difficult,
partly because the name on the sign matched.
To get to a cafe on the second floor,
having to go through narrow alleys seems to be a characteristic of Hanoi buildings.
Egg coffee, wait for me!
I'm coming for you!

Looks like I found the right place.

Unlike when I introduced the previous cafe, I made sure to take all the necessary photos this time.
The difference?
By this point, I had decided to start posting about my travels, haha!
Finally, I got to try Hanoi's egg coffee...
No lie, it was absolutely delicious.
Mostly because I hadn't really expected much from it.
How should I describe it? Like a nutty and sweet cafe latte?
Anyway, I really had no expectations,
but it turned out to be so much better than I thought!
So, I quickly gulped it down, faster than I expected...
And then I ordered another one, LOL!
Next, I ordered this!
Seriously, what's with the look of this one...?
I just ordered it out of curiosity.
Yogurt with Coffee.
I wondered what this combination would even be like.
It was literally just coffee poured over yogurt.
That's it, lol!
First off, it wasn't exactly a harmonious flavor combination,
but it was incredibly delicious.
Because
for one, Vietnamese coffee is just delicious,
and the yogurt was truly amazing.
So, I ended up just eating them separately, haha!
(There wasn't really a harmonious taste created by combining the two.
Or maybe there was, but I didn't mix them; I just scooped them separately, haha.)
And from this moment on, I started making sure to eat Vietnamese yogurt,
and it's so good!
Honestly, yogurt isn't the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Vietnam,
so I hadn't really thought to seek it out,
but Vietnamese yogurt is delicious. Highly recommend! :)
(Oh, just to clarify, I'm not recommending the yogurt coffee, but rather the yogurt itself!)

Socio Coffee
Last but not least.
I'd confidently say this place was relatively unknown.
(At least, when I visited.)
To be honest, I went here purely because their signature coffee was just too cute, LOL!
And I'm not usually one to be drawn in by such 'Instagrammable' aesthetics, haha.
But it was just so adorable, haha!
This place isn't hard to find either.
And you don't have to navigate through countless alleys to get here.
You can find it straight away.
Cute and clean design.
Ordered the signature menu item.
There weren't as many seats as I thought,
and when I went, there was only one spot left.
A thoughtful glass of iced water.
Curious to see what's written on it!
And just like that, my coffee arrived!
It's so adorable! Haha.
This place feels like it should be famous, but it seems not many people have discovered it yet (though I could be wrong!).
I have a feeling it's going to be a huge hit very soon.
The coffee is delicious too.
If there's one thing to consider,
while the previous two cafes were great for solo travelers to simply enjoy the view from the rooftop,
or just zone out on their own,
this cafe truly shines when you're with a companion, perfect for heartfelt conversations.
You *can* come alone, of course,
but the interior is a little cozier than I imagined, and there isn't really much else to occupy your time if you're flying solo...
There are outdoor seats too, of course.
But if you went during *this* season...
I'm (almost) certain you wouldn't feel like sitting out there! Haha!

Yes, Old Town Cafe has an air-conditioned space on the 3rd floor in addition to the rooftop. However, most customers prefer the rooftop or the 2nd-floor outdoor area, so the 3rd floor is less popular.
Cafe Dinh offers a unique menu item called 'Yogurt with Coffee'. While this menu doesn't blend the flavors of yogurt and coffee harmoniously, it has been mentioned that the Vietnamese coffee and the yogurt each taste excellent on their own.
