Hanoi Free Travel Course: The Egg Coffee Class

Vietnam is renowned for its coffee, but in Hanoi, there's one particular brew that stands out: egg coffee. I stumbled upon a hands-on class to make it and decided to join, curious to learn the secrets behind this unique beverage.

I didn't initially know about the class. Before my trip to Hanoi, I was browsing Klook for interesting activities to add to my itinerary. Café Minh

The class is held at Café Minh in Hanoi, nestled in an alley of the Old Quarter, close to Ta Hien Beer Street. You can choose times starting from 10:00 AM, but I opted for the 3:00 PM slot. I figured an afternoon class would be more relaxed than rushing in the morning, especially if I wanted to sleep in a bit.

The upstairs area had a lovely Vietnamese ambiance, perfect for enjoying a drink while watching the street below.

Let the Coffee Making Begin!

With our instructor, we officially began. We were going to make three different types of coffee. The process was surprisingly simple. First, we separated the egg yolks and whisked them into a frothy, creamy topping.

Then, we added the finishing touches with some creative decorating!

The instructor showed us an example, and while you could get creative, I opted to follow their lead since my artistic skills aren't exactly top-notch, haha.

One tip: be careful not to use too much syrup when decorating, or your coffee will become overly sweet.

After the egg coffee, we also made brown coffee and white coffee, which were even simpler. It felt less about learning complex barista skills and more about the fun of personally making Hanoi's famous egg coffee. It's truly about the experience!
