Whenever I visit the area around Sokcho Beach, there’s one 'mulhoe' (Korean raw fish soup) restaurant I always go back to. That place is none other than 'Hangari Mulhoe'!

With the Sokcho Eye Ferris Wheel and Sokcho Beach right nearby, it boasts fantastic views and serves up delicious meals – making it the perfect spot.

Hangari Mulhoe also offers a more spacious and convenient parking lot compared to many other spots in the area.

It used to be just one floor, but now it’s a sprawling 5-story building, which means less waiting time, a huge plus for popular destinations!

2. Menu & Prices

The menu at Sokcho Hangari Mulhoe is quite extensive, offering various 'mulhoe' dishes with options like squid, abalone, or sea cucumber. You can also find assorted mulhoe, 'hoe-deopbap' (raw fish bibimbap), abalone bibimbap, abalone porridge, 'sundae' (Korean blood sausage), ramen, and more.

Prices typically range from ~$7 to ~$15, offering excellent value for money.

With such a diverse menu, even those who aren't keen on raw fish can find something delicious like hearty rice dishes, making it a perfect spot for family visits.

3. Dining Experience

If you plan to dine in, head up to the second floor, where you'll discover a spacious dining area with plenty of seats, perfect for a relaxed meal!

Even late in the evening on the day I visited, many patrons were still enjoying their meals at Hangari Mulhoe, truly showcasing its enduring popularity.

During peak season, this expansive restaurant can get completely packed, often with lines forming out the door. If it's too crowded, remember that takeout is an excellent option – you can grab your order and enjoy it comfortably back at your accommodation!

On this particular trip, I opted for takeout.

Ordering takeout is simple: just place your order at the kiosk on the first floor, and you'll receive a KakaoTalk (or text) notification when it's ready for pickup. It's a super efficient way to manage your time, so keep that in mind!

Since I was in Sokcho, I wanted to sample a variety of local delicacies, so I stopped at several places. I packed up everything from sundae to mulhoe and even rich abalone porridge!

Among all the dishes, the Hangari Mulhoe was, without a doubt, the absolute best!

The portion was incredibly generous, with an abundance of fresh raw fish – easily enough to feed 3-4 people.

What's more, it was loaded with squid (which can be quite expensive these days!), various other fresh seafood, a perfectly sweet and tangy sauce, and even crushed ice. This ensured it stayed wonderfully cool and fresh, even after I brought it back to my accommodation!

After a satisfying, affordable, and incredibly generous meal, a leisurely stroll along Sokcho Beach, right next door, to enjoy the beautiful night sea, was the perfect addition to my travel itinerary!

I confidently recommend this Sokcho Beach restaurant to all my friends – it’s a definite must-visit!

Hangari Mulhoe truly remains a consistently delicious favorite near Sokcho Beach!

My reason for visiting every single year for the past five years is simple: the consistently amazing taste and the incredibly generous portions!
