La Via Haenggung-dong Review 2026: Wood-Fired Pizza & Tomato Stew
Discover La Via in Haenggung-dong, Suwon, a hidden gem offering authentic wood-fired pizza, delicious pasta, and a must-try whole squid tomato stew. Perfect for families or a cozy date night.
Haenggung-dong is simply bursting with incredible dining options!
It's easy to get overwhelmed when mealtime rolls around.
My recent visit to Haenggung-dong was on a quiet weekday evening, without any special night events, which made it unusually peaceful and uncrowded. It was a refreshing change!
Even as a local from Suwon, I usually find myself strolling around Paldal Mountain, enjoying the scenic views, or exploring the Haenggung Palace. I rarely plan a dedicated meal in Haenggung-dong, often indecisive about where to eat. However, when I'm with my son, decisions become surprisingly simple.
My son's go-to menu always includes pizza, chicken, or hamburgers, so we were practically drawn into La Via when we saw "wood-fired pizza" on their sign.

49-2 Haenggung-ro, Paldal-gu, Suwon-si, Gyeonggi-do, La Via Wood-Fired Pizza

On a beautiful weekend, this restaurant would undoubtedly be packed.
It's also been quite some time since I've dined at a Western restaurant that serves complimentary bread before the meal – a lovely touch!

We were all quite hungry, so instead of poring over the menu, we simply ordered the 3-person set menu. It turned out to be quite a generous amount, especially for three people including an elementary school-aged child with a smaller appetite.

It was lovely to have wood-fired pizza again after so long, and it brought back nostalgic memories of gathering with friends for delicious food and lively conversations during my college and early career days.
In an era where fusion cuisine and unique concepts often steal the spotlight, it's truly precious to find a place that excels at classic, straightforward, and incredibly tasty dishes.
While everything was delicious, if I were to return to La Via, it would undoubtedly be for their whole squid tomato stew.

With the evening weather starting to get quite chilly, a warm, hearty stew was absolutely perfect. It was generously packed with three whole squid, and the rich tomato broth was simply divine.
I almost asked to take the leftover stew home because it was too good to waste, but being a liquid dish, I hesitated and only ended up packing the pizza. What a shame!
It's definitely a stew I want to savor again on my next visit.
If you're exploring Haenggung-dong with a child craving pizza, looking for a charming date night spot, or simply seeking an authentic and delicious Italian-style restaurant, La Via comes highly recommended.
Please note that La Via is closed every Monday.
