Our Experience at Parking Lot 1

For our family picnic, we chose the Woncheon Lake Public Parking (Lot 1).
It's the largest of the public lots, offering 396 spaces both above and below ground.
You can easily access the lake park from either level; from the underground parking, a charming wooden bridge leads directly into the park.

Near Parking Lot 1, you'll find a visitor center and restrooms, and as expected for public parking, the rates are incredibly reasonable.

On our visit, we parked for a total of 163 minutes, and the parking fee came out to a super affordable ~$1.
Lakeside Picnic & Nearby Amenities

Exiting Parking Lot 1 and following the connected walking path, we were immediately greeted by the breathtaking, expansive views of Woncheon Lake.

The lake is quite expansive, so we decided to keep our walk short and instead focus on enjoying a relaxing picnic on the lush grass, which felt more manageable with the kids.

We found a perfect spot on the lawn near the parking lot, unpacked our homemade lunch, and savored a leisurely picnic, truly enjoying the outing.

The kids had a blast playing with their scooters and badminton rackets.
When we ran low on water and needed some snacks, we headed to Allyway, the closest commercial area.
The park's walking paths seamlessly connect to Allyway's shops, making it a convenient stroll to grab essentials from the convenience store.
Our Honest Gwanggyo Lake Park Review

I usually frequent Dongtan Lake Park, which is closer to my home. However, after visiting Gwanggyo Lake Park, I noticed a distinct difference in the overall atmosphere of the two parks.

Dongtan Lake Park is often bustling with young families and couples with small children. It has a vibrant, energetic atmosphere, making it an incredibly kid-friendly destination.

In contrast, Gwanggyo Lake Park seemed to attract a higher proportion of young adults enjoying their runs, couples on quiet dates, and seniors seeking peaceful relaxation amidst nature.
Gwanggyo Lake Park maintains a generally serene and tranquil atmosphere, which meant fewer children were around. When our kids got excited and their voices carried, I found myself constantly asking them to quiet down, feeling a bit self-conscious about disturbing the peaceful ambiance.

With its incredibly affordable parking fees and refreshing natural scenery, Gwanggyo Lake Park proved to be a satisfying spot for a weekend picnic.
However, if you're traveling with toddlers or very young children, you might also want to consider Dongtan Lake Park for its more kid-centric vibe.
