There's a convenient free parking lot near the entrance, making it easy to visit by car. The parking area usually has plenty of space, so you shouldn't have much trouble finding a spot, especially if you avoid peak weekend hours.

The path from the parking lot leads directly to the walking trail, making for a straightforward and easy start to your stroll.

What I Loved About It

The path itself is wonderfully flat and well-maintained, making it ideal for everyone – whether you're walking with kids or enjoying a leisurely stroll with older family members.

With metasequoia trees lining both sides of the path, the verdant scenery is truly beautiful. It's a fantastic spot for capturing some atmospheric photos, and you'll often see visitors pausing to snap pictures.

It's a pleasant place to walk slowly, soak in the forest ambiance, and enjoy the refreshing breeze – perfect for a short, relaxing break.

However, I should mention that the walking path is shorter than I expected.

Even with taking your time and stopping for photos, you can easily explore the entire stretch in about 20-30 minutes.

A Few Drawbacks

On the day I visited, there was a persistent **pig farm odor** in the air, likely due to nearby livestock facilities.

Depending on the wind direction, the smell was quite strong, which unfortunately detracted from the experience of my walk.

Of course, this might vary depending on the season or day you visit, but it's something to keep in mind if you're sensitive to smells.

Beyond the metasequoia path itself, there aren't many other special sights or activities to enjoy.

While the beautiful walking trail is certainly a plus, it didn't feel like a major tourist attraction that you'd travel a great distance just to see.

Instead, I'd recommend thinking of it as a pleasant detour to include during a larger Gongju trip, perhaps after visiting Gongsanseong Fortress, Magoksa Temple, or exploring the city center. This way, your overall satisfaction is likely to be much higher.

Right next to the Metasequoia Road, you'll find a beautiful lotus pond area.

The walking paths here are also well-maintained, making it a great addition to your stroll if you want to extend your time outdoors.

Final Thoughts

The Gongju Metasequoia Road offers a decent, easy walk. While the ambiance created by the metasequoia trees was pleasing, the strong farm smell from nearby livestock facilities made me not want to linger for too long.

Also, given its relatively small size and limited attractions, it's hard to call it a 'must-visit' highlight of Gongju.

However, if it fits into your Gongju itinerary or you're simply looking for a short, refreshing walk to break up your day, it's a perfectly fine place to stop by.
