Experience the magic of Gongju with a stay at Damdam, a beautiful private hanok. Discover ancient fortresses, poetic alleys, and capture stunning photos.

Whether it's an overseas adventure or a domestic journey,
Hyagildong is busily exploring!
And today's destination is none other than Gongju in Chungcheongnam-do!
It was actually my first time visiting Gongju,
and even though the pouring monsoon rain made me wish for better weather,
it's such a charming place that I absolutely want to visit again!
It's definitely a destination I'm eager to return to :)

The first place I stayed on this Gongju trip was
none other than Damdam, a private hanok guesthouse!
Its exterior alone was incredibly photogenic,
and the interior offered even more charming photo zones,
making it perfect for friends or couples to capture unforgettable memories.

Especially while staying at Damdam hanok in Gongju,
I rented a beautiful hanbok from a nearby shop,
and it truly had a unique charm.
Many of my friends were like, 'You wore a hanbok in *this* hot weather?!'
But when I showed them the photos, they gasped, 'Wow, it's so beautiful!' lol.
I felt so proud, and it seemed like I'd captured so many 'once-in-a-lifetime' shots,
which made me feel absolutely fantastic!
Since Gongsanseong Fortress is located right near Damdam Hanok guesthouse,
we snapped some photos and explored the area,
and it was such a wonderfully enjoyable day!

When it comes to Damdam in Gongju, not only is Gongsanseong Fortress incredibly close,
but just a 1-minute walk from Jemincheon Stream, you'll also find Poet Na Tae-ju's Alley,
making it perfect for exploring Gongju's must-see spots.
And because there are so many fantastic restaurants and cafes nearby, it's ideal for foodies
and those who adore taking aesthetic photos.
And yes, we definitely indulged in delicious food and explored tons of beautiful cafes too! >.<

The spacious dining table greeted us as soon as we stepped into the guesthouse :)
With a large table in the living room on the first floor,
it was wonderful for enjoying meals and sharing cozy conversations with my friend.

The kitchen was also quite spacious and easy to use,
though the slight downside was that full cooking isn't allowed ㅠ_ㅠ
But simple preparation is permitted,
so we enjoyed some delicious cup-bap and cup ramen,
and for a late-night snack, we ordered some gopchang.
The gopchang we ordered from here was seriously legendary...

Cups, plates, and other essentials were amply provided,
so we had no trouble using them.

A coffee pot and microwave,
along with drip coffee, were all thoughtfully prepared,
allowing us to make good use of them during our stay.

The etiquette and
important notices for using Damdam guesthouse were thoughtfully placed on top of the refrigerator,
which we carefully reviewed. We even got to sign the guestbook!

Gongju's hanok guesthouse, such incredible thoughtfulness...
When you think of Gongju, you think of chestnuts; when you think of chestnuts, you think of Gongju!!!
They had even prepared Gongju chestnut bread for breakfast ㅠㅠ
It's no secret that I ended up devouring it all as a snack rather than saving it for breakfast ^^..
There was also milk and cup soup available, so we could definitely have a satisfying meal.
And let me tell you, that bread was unbelievably delicious ㅠㅠ truly a sensation...

With the jazz music playing as soon as we entered,
My ears were in for a treat, and look, there was even a CD player!
This place is just overflowing with amazing vibes!

I truly immersed myself in this hanok stay by wearing a hanbok,
and it was absolutely perfect for turning every nook and cranny
into a fantastic photo zone! Seriously, it was the best choice! 😭✨

Since it's a duplex hanok stay, it boasts two bedrooms!
And two beds too!!
It's such a charming place that comfortably accommodates
not just two, but even up to four people! :)
And the bedding? Oh, it was incredibly plush!
I felt like I had the most wonderfully deep sleep. Haha!

In the first-floor bedroom, there was also a mirror set up like this,
which, of course, instantly became another photo zone! ^^

Don't the pictures turn out so beautifully? Hehe!

And there were also a variety of board games available,
which we thoroughly enjoyed.
We played a ton of Gonggi-nori (a traditional Korean game)! Lolol
It'd been so long since I last played, my hands must have gotten stiff, because I wasn't very good at it! 😭

Heading up to the second floor, you'll discover a space filled with plants,
where you'll find yet another stunning photo zone.
It felt just like stepping into a botanical garden,
and the greenery perfectly matched the name 'Damdam,' which means calm and gentle,
exuding such a serene and natural ambiance.

And of course, this spot is a dedicated photo zone,
where you can capture some truly unforgettable 'life shots'! ^^

The bedding on the second floor was also pure coziness itself, honestly!
With hotel-quality bedding provided,
I imagine everyone who visits this place will enjoy truly comfortable, deep sleep.

I mean, aren't the bedroom wallpaper patterns and the hanbok just a match made in heaven?! 😭💖
For anyone who wants to truly experience a hanok stay,
I absolutely recommend you try renting a hanbok just like I did!!

At the mirror zone in the second-floor bedroom,
I took some fun mirror selfies :)
Seriously, renting a hanbok was the best decision ever! 😭✨

With bathrooms available on both the first and second floors,
you can enjoy privacy and convenience.
Plus, plenty of amenities are also provided,
so you literally only need to bring yourself! ✨

Being a duplex, I spent a lot of time going up and down the stairs,
exploring every corner and snapping photos,
feeling like I had quite a busy but wonderful day! Haha!

Another fantastic photo zone at Gongju Hanok Stay Damdam is
the breathtaking view of the first-floor living room, seen directly from the second floor!
Isn't it absolutely gorgeous?

We chatted around the big wooden table,
savored delicious Gongju chestnut bread,
and even indulged in some late-night snacks, haha!

While Gongju's Damdam accommodation was wonderful,
there's also Doldam, which we used together,
and apparently, there are four Letstay accommodations in total, including Hodam and Cheongdam.
I'd love to try them all if I could!!
Plus, they say there are four accommodations in Suncheon too,
so I'm hoping to visit there sometime soon :)

Gongju, a destination visited on a domestic trip!
It's such a captivating place, I truly want to visit again~
As a rare, private two-story Hanok accommodation,
Damdam offered a wonderfully private experience.
Currently, they're running an instant discount event for the accommodation,
and there are also discounts for consecutive nights and for adding extra guests,
so for anyone planning their summer vacation, I highly recommend checking out Gongju :)
