Save on Your Gongju Trip: The Onnuri Gongju Citizen Card
How to Get It, Discounts, and Insider Tips!
I’ve mentioned it a few times in my Gongju travel posts...
The Onnuri Gongju Citizen Card!
Not only does it make your trip to Gongju so much better,
but it also helps you save some serious cash along the way.
So today, I'm going to introduce
the amazing Onnuri Gongju Citizen Card.
During my recent 2-day, 1-night trip to Gongju,
this single card got me 50% off admission to major historic sites,
plus discounts at cozy aesthetic cafes and famous local bakeries!
I ended up saving at four different places, and honestly, the perks were so good.
If you visit Gongju and pay full price without knowing about this,
you're definitely missing out!
The Onnuri Gongju Citizen Card is super easy for anyone to get.
I’ve put together a complete guide on how to sign up, plus my personal tips from the 4 spots
where I personally scored discounts.
So, if you're planning a trip to Gongju or looking for the best things to do,
stay tuned and read closely!
1. What is the Onnuri Gongju Citizen Card?
The Onnuri Gongju Citizen Card is a fantastic program where anyone—even non-residents—
can sign up online to become an "honorary citizen" of Gongju.
It gives you access to local merchant discounts, travel info,
and a whole host of other travel perks!
You don't have to live in Gongju, and the card is
100% free to issue—which is easily the best part!
2. How to Sign Up & Insider Tips
The sign-up process is so simple that even an elementary schooler could easily do it
on their smartphone in just a couple of minutes.
Just click the link above to visit the official Onnuri Gongju website,
sign up, and your card is issued instantly!

If typing out the website address sounds like too much hassle,
I’ve included this quick QR code. Just open your phone camera
and scan it to sign up in seconds!
3. Pro Tips & Things to Keep in Mind

First, definitely get it issued before you start your trip!
While there are signs at the ticket booths of major attractions,
scrambling to sign up on the spot will only waste
your precious sightseeing time.
Actually, when I was entering the Tomb of King Muryeong, the ticket agent asked the family in front of me, "Do you have the Onnuri Citizen Card?"
They looked completely lost, having no idea what it was.
I stepped in to explain that signing up gets you 50% off the ticket price
and showed them how to do it. But it's definitely a win-win
to have it ready to go before you even arrive in Gongju!

Second, take a screenshot of your citizen card once issued
and save it in your photo library!
This is another great timesaver,
as showing a quick screenshot is much easier than logging in each time.
Third, if traveling in a group, "everyone" needs their own card!
If you're traveling solo, you're fine, but if you're with others,
you must present an individual Onnuri Gongju Citizen Card
for each person in your group
to receive the discount.
If only one person signs up, only one person gets the discount,
so make sure everyone in your group registers!
4. Major Benefits & Discount Partners
The benefits of the Onnuri Gongju Citizen Card
are much broader than you might expect!
There are tons of participating cafes, accommodations, restaurants, and tourist sites.
The discount rates vary by location, but you can check out the
full list on the official website below.

To give you an idea, here are the four spots I personally visited
and saved at during my 2-day itinerary:

Royal Tombs of Muryeong and Wangneung-won, Gongju: 50% discount on admission
Gongsanseong Fortress: 50% discount on admission

Lucia’s Earth (Tea House) by Jeminchon Stream: 5% discount
Bakery Bammaul (Gongju's famous chestnut bakery): 5% discount
5. My Honest 2-Day Discount Experience
The Tomb of King Muryeong and Royal Tombs (50% Discount)
The very first place where I got to enjoy this half-price benefit was Gongju's signature
historical landmark, the Tomb of King Muryeong and Royal Tombs!
When I showed my Onnuri Gongju Cyber Citizen ID at the ticket booth,
I immediately got a 50% discount and started my tour in the best mood.
For detailed parking tips and my full review of the visit, check out
the post below!

Gongsanseong Fortress (50% Discount)
I haven't posted the detailed review yet, but this UNESCO World Heritage Site,
Gongsanseong Fortress, also offered a sweet 50% off on the admission fee
thanks to my Onnuri Gongju Cyber Citizen ID!
Lucia's Garden (5% Discount)
Even at Lucia's Garden, a cozy Hanok cafe tucked away in the alleyways of Jemincheon, Gongju,
I just showed my Onnuri Gongju Cyber Citizen ID at checkout to get a 5% discount.
Only one person in your group needs to show it to get the discount here!
Sipping delicious tea and unwinding in such a peaceful, tranquil space
while saving some pocket change made the experience feel even more rewarding.

Bakery Bammaeul (5% Discount)
An absolute must-visit spot on any foodie's bread pilgrimage in Gongju,
Bakery Bammaeul! (I'll write a detailed post about this soon!)
It's a super famous spot with a long line, but I still got a 5% discount on all items,
allowing me to snag some delicious chestnut pies and other sweet treats at a bargain.
Some might think, "Is it really worth signing up just to save on small admission fees
or get a tiny 5% discount?"
But those small savings quickly add up as you explore,
and you'll definitely feel the difference in your wallet!
It's no exaggeration to say that planning a trip to Gongju
starts with getting this Onnuri Gongju Cyber Citizen ID lol.
6. Wrap-Up & Tips for Booking Accommodation in Gongju
If you're planning a trip to Gongju, I think the Onnuri Gongju Cyber Citizen ID
is absolutely essential. It's the ultimate travel hack
that you shouldn't miss out on.
Take just a few minutes to sign up, and enjoy a smart, budget-friendly
adventure in this lovely city!
To be honest, rather than flashy activities or massive attractions, Gongju's true charm
lies in leisurely strolling through its quiet Hanok alleys.
It's a walking-friendly town perfectly suited for a relaxing,
restorative getaway.
To share a quick, honest reflection from my trip:
Since I planned this trip in a bit of a rush,
I ended up staying at a budget hotel in the Shingwan-dong area.
While the Shingwan-dong area was clean and wallet-friendly,
once I actually arrived and saw the dreamy Jemincheon alleys and the stunning night view of Gongsanseong Fortress,
I immediately realized why everyone emphasizes booking a cozy,
traditional Hanok stay well in advance when traveling here.
With all the money you'll save on admission fees, dining, and desserts using your citizen ID,
I highly recommend investing that extra budget into accommodation.
Book a private Hanok house or a highly rated, charming emotional stay
as early as possible.
I'll drop a link below to the accommodations I bookmarked for my next visit
while planning this trip's itinerary.
Make sure to secure your booking a step ahead of the crowd
and plan your perfect, healing getaway to Gongju!
