DAY 1: From Foodie Delights to Baekje History
1. Gomgol Restaurant

We kicked off our Gongju adventure with our first meal at Gomgol Restaurant!
The charcoal-grilled spicy pork platter's smoky aroma was particularly
memorable here, and since there's quite a wait on weekends and holidays,
we recommend being there at opening or using a remote queuing system!
2. Cafe Bameu

This cafe is conveniently located right across from Gomgol Restaurant, making it perfect for a visit after your meal!
They offer many dishes and drinks featuring chestnuts, a local specialty of Gongju.
We savored their chestnut ice cream and float latte,
fully immersing ourselves in the Gongju travel vibe.
3. Tomb of King Muryeong and Royal Tombs

A Baekje historical site I absolutely wanted to visit during my Gongju trip!
After leisurely exploring from the Ungjin Baekje History Museum to the Royal Tombs,
a visit to the next stop, the Gongju National Museum, makes for a perfect
historical travel itinerary.
4. Gongju National Museum

It's within walking distance from King Muryeong's Tomb,
making it a great place to visit together!
You can see artifacts unearthed from King Muryeong's Tomb, as well as various Baekje relics,
and even explore the storage facility for the Chungcheong region,
so there's surprisingly a lot to see.
Best of all, it's free, making it a perfect spot to drop by without any pressure!
5. Lucia's Garden

After our historical journey, we headed to Jeminchon Stream
and found Lucia's Garden, a hanok cafe.
As a specialty shop for black tea and milk tea, it offers lovely tea sets
to enjoy your tea. If you're a tea lover,
this place will definitely charm you!
6. Gongju Chestnut Bread Main Branch

Originally, we planned to go to Buja Tteokjip (rice cake shop), but the wait was
too long, so we changed our plan to the Gongju Chestnut Bread Main Branch instead.
7. Mireu Island, Geumgang Shingwan Park

After finishing our day's itinerary, we went for an evening stroll to digest!
Mireu Island and Geumgang Shingwan Park are connected,
making them perfect for a leisurely walk, and the beautiful lights of Gongsanseong Fortress reflected in the river
make it an excellent spot for a night view stroll!
DAY 2 : Gongsanseong Fortress to Jeminchon Stream: An Emotional Journey
1. Buja Tteokjip (Rice Cake Shop) Open Run

The Buja Tteokjip we couldn't get into the day before, we tried again the next day
with an 'open run' strategy, and tasted their signature items:
Albam Mochi (chestnut mochi), Hobam Siru, and Ssukbam Siru.
2. Gongsanseong Fortress

After grabbing some tteok (rice cakes), we headed to Gongsanseong Fortress for a morning stroll!
Walking along the fortress walls, you can overlook the Geumgang River and Gongju city,
and it was perfect for a light exploration of about an hour.
3. Pitang Kimtang

Of all the food we ate in Gongju, Kimchi Tangsuyuk (Kim Pitang) was the most memorable!
It's a unique dish that blends kimchi, tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork), and cheese.
While it might seem unfamiliar at first,
it's truly an addictive dish that you'll keep reaching for!
This place is also a popular spot with long queues, so an 'open run'
(being there right at opening) or remote queuing is a must!!
4. Bakery Bammamaeul

Located right across from Gongsanseong Fortress, this bakery is truly
representative of Gongju!
From chestnut pies to chestnut cream cheese tarts and chestnut eclairs, they offer
a wide variety of breads using Gongju's specialty, chestnuts,
making them perfect souvenirs!
There's quite a wait on weekends, so I recommend visiting with plenty of time
to spare!
5. Mujungryeok Roasters

After finishing our bread shopping, we took a stroll along Jemincheon Stream and
headed to Mujungryeok Roasters, which is known as Gongju's only espresso bar.
You can choose your coffee beans according to your preference,
and the 'Cane con Sale e Pepe' – an espresso topped with cream, salt, and pepper –
was particularly impressive!
6. Danpyeonseon (The Anthology)

A charming souvenir shop,
meticulously curated with the owner's impeccable taste!
7. Gosari Japghwajum (Gosari General Store)

If you're a fan of decorating your journals and planners, this place is impossible to just walk past,
with its amazing array of stickers, masking tapes, memo pads, keychains, and more.
They also have a fantastic variety of chestnut-shaped goods, like chestnut soap and pouches,
which really reminded me that Gongju is truly the 'city of chestnuts'!
8. Gagga Sangjeom (Gagga Store)

The last stop on our tour was Gagga Sangjeom, an unmanned bookstore.
Though small, it's packed with books and charming items,
making it the perfect spot to quietly browse and soak in the local vibe!
