I also felt overwhelmed at first, but I've put together an itinerary based on the route I actually took,
covering Cairo, Aswan, Luxor, and then Dahab and Siwa.
Today, I'll be sharing **my personal Egypt independent travel itinerary based on my experiences**.

1. Cairo - Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), Giza Pyramids
My Egyptian adventure began in Cairo.
I arrived in Cairo after a connecting flight through Shanghai with China Eastern Airlines.
I visited the Grand Egyptian Museum, which is newly opened.
Although it's still in its partial opening phase, the exhibitions are wonderfully organized by era and theme.
With a Starbucks, restaurants, and quality souvenirs available inside the museum,
I ended up spending a long time exploring it all.

Next up was the Giza Pyramids, where I entered through a new entrance, different from previous information.
A shuttle bus was available, making it comfortable to explore the site.
You can see the Sphinx and all the pyramids at a glance, making it perfect for photos!
In the evening, I headed to the train station and took an overnight train to Aswan.
While it was a great way to soak in the local atmosphere and save on accommodation,
the conditions were quite basic, so I wouldn't recommend it if you're traveling with young children or elderly parents.

2. Aswan - Philae Temple, Abu Simbel Temples
The accommodation we stayed at after arriving in Aswan was
the Obelisk Nile Hotel Aswan.
With beautiful views of the Nile River and a stunning pool,
it was perfect for relaxation and had great access to tours.

The first historical site we explored in Aswan was Philae Temple.
Philae Temple floats on the Nile River, so you need to take a boat to get there.
After some intense price negotiation with the boat hawkers, we finally arrived at Philae Temple,
which felt like a fantastic place reminiscent of the Overwatch Anubis Temple.
The next morning, we headed to the Abu Simbel Temples.
The sheer size of the statues and the murals were overwhelming,
and even though it was an 8-hour round trip, it was definitely one of the must-visit places in Egypt.

3. Luxor - Hot Air Balloon and West Bank
After the Abu Simbel tour, we immediately moved on to Luxor.
We relaxed at a McDonald's in the city, enjoying views of Luxor Temple,
and also explored the market to buy souvenirs.
The next day, a hot air balloon tour and a West Bank tour were
planned, but due to bad weather, we couldn't do the hot air balloon.
Still, we managed to explore key historical sites on the West Bank, including the Valley of the Kings, the Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut, and the Colossi of Memnon,
in about 4 hours.

4. Dahab - Scuba Diving, Petra Tour
There are several ways to get to Dahab.
We flew from Luxor to Sharm El Sheikh Airport.
At the airport, we found fellow travelers to share a taxi with, making our ride to Dahab super affordable.
Dahab boasts many guesthouses run by Koreans,
which I highly recommend for anyone missing Korean food.
You can even make new friends at the occasional barbecue parties they host!
From Dahab, you can also embark on a thrilling Petra Tour by taking a ferry across the border.
While the itinerary is packed, the sheer grandeur of the Petra Treasury will leave you feeling incredibly satisfied.
If you're planning an Egyptian adventure with young children or your parents,
instead of an independent trip that can be tricky to plan due to frequent inter-city travel,
I'd highly recommend a package tour that lets you see all the essential cities.

5. Siwa - Salt Lake, Oasis
My final recommended city is Siwa.
It's about an 8-hour drive or more from Cairo, but you'll find unique attractions like the desert, salt lakes, and Cleopatra's Spring – charms you won't experience in other Egyptian cities.
You'll need to stay for at least 2 nights and 3 days to truly savor it.

Here's the route I explored:
Cairo -> Aswan -> Abu Simbel -> Luxor -> Dahab
-> Petra -> Cairo -> Siwa -> Cairo.
Depending on your personal preferences, you could visit Hurghada instead of Dahab, Petra, or Siwa.
Experiencing ancient ruins, deserts, and the sea all in one trip allowed me to truly appreciate Egypt's diverse charms.
