When you think of Thailand, traditional Thai massage often comes to mind. But on a recent trip to Bangkok, I heard about a renowned spot famous for its foot massages and decided to investigate. Let me tell you, it delivered far more than just a foot rub!

Bangkok Massage Recommendation

The Doctor Feet massage shop itself isn't huge. It's a popular place, so making a reservation in advance is highly recommended. Of course, being me, I just showed up without one! If I'd been alone, I probably could have gotten in right away, but since there were two of us, we had to wait. So, we put our names down and found a nearby cafe to chill for a bit. (Funnily enough, when I went back to that cafe later, it had closed down! It was a great spot, I'd wanted to write about it.)
Anyway, after a bit of a scramble, we finally got our massage.
And it was genuinely painful.
Seriously painful.
I was practically yelping through it!
If you're wincing, they'll quietly hand you this chart...

It's a reflexology chart, showing you which parts of your body might be out of whack if a certain spot on your foot hurts.
Most massages leave you feeling drowsy and relaxed, a truly healing experience. But this one? There was no way I was going to feel drowsy while it was happening! However, there was definitely something to it. As they worked on my feet, I could hear gurgling sounds from my internal organs (this only happened on my first visit, not subsequent ones). Even though it was purely a foot massage, I left feeling refreshed and invigorated throughout my entire body.

The prices for a Bangkok massage here are quite reasonable. If you opt for a session with a master therapist, it's an extra 100 Thai Baht. I initially thought, "What's the big difference?" and didn't try the master therapist myself. But on our last day, my friend had a session with one and insisted it was completely different, making me incredibly curious! Next time I visit, I'm definitely going for the master treatment.
As for tipping in Bangkok, the usual custom is around 10% of the service price. However, with the rising cost of living in 2026, I personally tend to round up to the next significant currency denomination if I'm going to tip. For example, if 10% came to 50 Baht, I might give 100 Baht instead.

A refreshing cup of tea after the session.
Bangkok Foot Massage Tips & Booking
This place is quite popular, so you really need to book in advance. And here's a crucial tip: always, always double-check your reservation!
As I mentioned, I just walked in and had to make a reservation for later. I waited at a nearby cafe, but when I returned, my booking had been misplaced. It meant my schedule got messed up, and I had to go back to my hotel and then return for the massage. While I had plenty of flexibility that day, a mix-up like that could easily throw off your entire itinerary, so it's something to be mindful of.

They gave me a business card to call for future reservations, but initially, the staff didn't seem to communicate well in English over the phone. When I tried to call for another booking later, I still found it difficult. I also saw reviews from others who had similar communication issues. Furthermore, while the card says they close at 9 PM, Google Maps indicates 8 PM, and they were indeed closing around that time during my visits. It seems their hours can be a bit flexible depending on the day's bookings.
+ Update for 2026
While there might have been a language barrier for phone bookings during my initial visits, Doctor Feet now has English-speaking staff at the counter, making it much easier to reserve by phone. However, even with the English-speaking staff, I've personally witnessed (though not experienced myself on those specific occasions) instances of missed or double-booked appointments for other customers. So, every single time I've visited, there's been some kind of booking hiccup.
Therefore, when making a Bangkok massage reservation at Doctor Feet, it's always a good idea to double-check and remind them one last time.
It was intensely painful, but in a way, that's precisely why it's worth experiencing again. I highly recommend Doctor Feet for a unique Bangkok massage.
