Hi there, it's Eundambi! :)
You might think winter in Gangwon-do would be too cold to enjoy,
but that's not the case at all!
The East Sea is always a beautiful and incredibly atmospheric destination, isn't it?
While I usually lean towards the tranquil charm of Gangneung,
this trip took me to Delpino Resort Goseong,
famous for its breathtaking Ulsanbawi Rock views of Seoraksan Mountain.
Even though it's technically in Goseong,
it's super close to Sokcho city center, making it incredibly accessible!
I'm excited to share my honest review of why it's truly the best choice for a family trip with kids.
📍 Delpino Resort
1153 Misiryeong-yetgil, Toseong-myeon, Goseong-gun, Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province
Although Delpino Resort's official address is in Goseong-gun,
it's conveniently located just about 10-15 minutes by car from Sokcho city center and Jungang Market.
Imagine enjoying Sokcho's incredible eateries and the beautiful sea,
while also being nestled right in the heart of Seoraksan Mountain's stunning nature!
It's truly a captivating resort.
Plus, with Ocean Play, a kids' cafe, an arcade,
diverse dining options, and a whole host of other amazing facilities all connected underground,
even a 2-night, 3-day stay feels too short to experience it all! Haha!

The day I visited, the sky was perfectly clear, not a cloud in sight.
On the flip side, it was incredibly, incredibly windy! ;;

To be honest, I'd only ever heard the name Ulsanbawi,
and didn't quite grasp what it truly was.
I wondered if it was just famous for being a large rock on a mountain?
I truly questioned its renown.
...

And then I realized, this incredible formation that looks almost like a mountain itself, *that* is Ulsanbawi!
How fascinating and truly unique!
We even looked up the traditional folk tale of Ulsanbawi with the kids,
and had such a great time discussing its legend.
Delpino Resort Goseong Check-in
It seems Delpino Resort Goseong has a unique check-in process, likely because the Ulsanbawi view is so popular!
You can actually pick up a room assignment number ticket from the lobby starting as early as 8 AM.
Then, starting at 3 PM, rooms are assigned in the order of the numbers.
Because of this, many people stop by the resort early in the morning to grab their number ticket,
then head out to explore Sokcho Jungang Market or the city center,
and finally return to the resort later for check-in.
I had already chosen a panorama view from the outset,
and wasn't particularly set on the Ulsanbawi view,
so I simply headed straight to the resort around 4 PM for check-in.
Even on a weekend, I only waited about 20 minutes and successfully checked in,
before heading up to our room.

One of the absolute highlights of Delpino Resort is its
myriad of amazing facilities, all conveniently connected underground.
You'll find restaurants with diverse menus, a kids' club, karaoke rooms, a billiards hall,
a coin laundry, and even a water park – seriously, they have it all!
Honestly, two nights and three days might not even be enough to fully enjoy everything!

The room I booked for my 1-night, 2-day stay was the
Sono Belle EAST Delpino
Family Panorama Bed / Clean Room
Since it was a Panorama room, it was located at the very end of the hallway,
and as I was traveling with friends,
when I mentioned it at check-in, they kindly assigned us adjacent rooms. So thoughtful!

My Reservation Details
Sono Belle East Family Clean Panorama View with Bed (for 4 people)
Given that we were traveling on a particularly windy day,
I specifically chose Delpino Resort so we could minimize moving around with the kids and enjoy everything in one convenient location.

The room featured two spacious double beds,
and a comfortable four-person dining table, perfect for meals.

Since it's a "clean room," there's no gas stove for cooking.
Goseong Delpino Resort has been around for a while,
and I heard that cooking rooms can sometimes have lingering smells,
so I opted for a clean room.
While you can feel its age a little, it felt clean and well-maintained,
so it was pretty good!

Also, inside your room key, you'll find discount tickets for the resort's facilities,
so make sure not to lose them! Haha.
Details about Delpino Resort's facilities
will be covered in the next post.

Before arriving at the resort in the afternoon, we stopped by Sokcho Jungang Market,
and pulled out all the delicious food we'd packed for a party!
Squid pancake, shrimp tempura, squid tempura, and dak-gangjeong (sweet and sour crispy chicken).
We had to eat it all!

And then... there was the other highly anticipated dish:
Jeonwon Restaurant's Duruchigi (spicy stir-fried pork), famously featured on Sung Si-kyung's 'Meogeultende' show!
Sokcho Duruchigi from Jeonwon Restaurant!!
Because the wait was notoriously long and it gets very crowded,
we decided to get it to-go and eat it at our accommodation.
The meat pieces were incredibly large, and the kimchi was deliciously sweet,
it was just so tasty!
I almost wished I had packed another portion to take home with me.....
It perfectly balanced out the fried foods we got from Jungang Market, which were a bit greasy.
It would have been a disaster without this!
All our takeout choices were a success! ♡
Sokcho truly has so many great eateries.

In the morning, I pulled back the curtains and enjoyed the refreshing view of Seoraksan Mountain.
With such good weather, just gazing at it was truly healing.

If only the wind hadn't been so strong,
we would have loved to stroll through the resort's outdoor park.
The wind was so intense that lighter children could literally be pushed by it,
so we just enjoyed the views from our room.
Its close proximity to Sokcho city center,
the magnificent scenery of Seoraksan Mountain,
and even indoor facilities,
make Goseong Delpino Resort a perfect choice for a Gangwon-do trip with kids.
In the next post, I'll bring you a detailed look at the exciting facilities we enjoyed with the kids at Goseong Delpino Resort:
Ocean Play Water Park and the Kids Cafe :)

Ulsanbawi view rooms follow a special check-in process. You can pick up a room assignment number ticket from the lobby starting at 8 AM, and room assignments will begin at 3 PM according to the number ticket order.
No, 'Clean Rooms' are not available for cooking. These rooms do not have gas stoves, and the article's author chose a Clean Room due to concerns about odors in cooking-enabled rooms, given the resort's age.
While Goseong Delpino Resort's address is in Goseong-gun, it is located approximately 10-15 minutes away by car from Sokcho city center and Jungang Market. This allows guests to enjoy Sokcho's famous restaurants and the sea while also staying amidst the nature of Seoraksan Mountain.
Yes, discount tickets for auxiliary facilities are included inside your Delpino Resort room key. You can use these tickets to enjoy various facilities such as Ocean Play and the Kids Cafe at a discounted price.
