Chef's Suite Haenggung-dong: A Unique Culinary Experience
Explore Chef's Suite, a hidden culinary gem in Suwon's historic Haenggung-dong. Indulge in everything from delicious pasta and steak to unexpected sushi!
Lately, my husband's hospital visits have brought us frequently to the charming area near Paldalmun Gate and Haenggung Palace in Suwon.
Since my son is a big fan of Western cuisine, we've been exploring restaurants we hadn't tried before. This time, we stumbled upon a place I'd often seen and been curious about, tucked away in an alley next to the famous Yeoldual Udon restaurant.

The entrance immediately piqued my curiosity, reminding me of a favorite pub I used to frequent in Seochon. From the outside, it looked like a small, cozy spot, but once inside, we were surprised by how spacious it was, even boasting a larger entrance on the opposite side!

What truly made this place unique was the menu. While the initial impression suggested a Western restaurant with pizza, pasta, and steak, the menu also featured sushi and donburi (rice bowls).

Another section of the restaurant even had a distinct Japanese dining ambiance. It was truly a fascinating spot!
Nevertheless, we decided to stick with Western dishes to cater to my son's preference.

During our visit, the restaurant was decked out with Halloween decorations, creating a fun, festive vibe with orange lighting. The overall atmosphere felt geared towards a younger crowd, perfect for a lively outing.

Instead of traditional bread, we were served a delightful appetizer of potato salad with crackers and fruit juice. My son absolutely loved it!

Since it was our first time, I wasn't sure if the orange lighting was permanent or part of the Halloween theme. Regardless, everything we ordered—the mushroom pizza, truffle fries, and the assorted half-and-half steak—was absolutely delicious.
The prices were also very reasonable, making it an excellent spot for a date or a gathering with friends.

I'd definitely love to come back and try other steak options if I get the chance.

You can choose between a fully cooked steak or a rare cut that you cook further on a hot plate. We opted for the rare cut since we prefer our meat less chewy, and it was absolutely perfect.
