Honestly, I'm perfectly happy with just a good bathhouse, somewhere with hot tubs and a sauna. But these days, traditional bathhouses are becoming a rarity, which is a bit of a shame.
Luckily, there's a fantastic hot spring spa close to home!

Buksuwon Oncheon has been a family favorite for years. But after its Bali-themed renovation a few years back, it really started drawing in the crowds.
Let's talk about pricing. A daytime adult admission for the bathhouse alone is ~$8. If you want to add the jjimjilbang (sauna rooms), it's an additional ~$2, bringing the total to ~$10. But here's a pro tip: if you add Buksuwon Oncheon as a friend on KakaoTalk (Korea's most popular messaging app), you can get a 50% discount on the bathhouse entrance fee!
When you visit Buksuwon Oncheon, you get 4 hours of free parking in the underground garage of the same building. If the underground lot is full, they even offer support for external parking! Just bring your physical receipt from Sungdae Station Transit Parking, Yuljeon Public Parking Lot 1, or Public Parking Lot 3, and they'll provide a subsidy of ~$3 or ~$5, depending on the number of people in your party. The main hall offers free seating on a first-come, first-served basis, but these spots are usually snapped up quickly. When we visited around 10 AM on a weekend, there were no free spots available. Even the family relaxation rooms were booked solid until well past 11 AM. The Bali Zone did have open spots, but it comes with a price tag of ~$41 for use. Since we didn't have much luggage, we opted to just use the general resting areas.
One of the main reasons we used to visit jjimjilbangs was for the Kids Land play facilities!
But alas, our little one is now over 51 inches tall (130 cm), which means they can no longer use it! Oh, the bittersweet joys of growing up!
While there are several sauna types like the salt room and cypress wood room, my personal favorite is always the Bulgama (hot kiln sauna). There's nothing quite like sweating it all out in the Bulgama, then cooling down with a drink and resting, repeating a few times until you feel completely refreshed and invigorated.
Even if you just use the bathhouse at Buksuwon Oncheon, it's a great experience. What I love most is that it's not in a basement or a cramped, enclosed space. Instead, it features large windows that let in plenty of natural light, creating a bright and airy atmosphere.
Now, for an honest recommendation: while it's generally good, there are a few minor details here and there in the jjimjilbang areas that you might need to overlook if you're particular. These are just my personal observations, of course.
Despite these small points, the photo-worthy ambiance and the amazing Bulgama continue to draw in many visitors. And since it's so convenient for us, we find ourselves coming back pretty often.
