From Alona Beach, it's about a 20-minute tuk-tuk ride, and from Doljo Beach, it takes approximately 15 minutes.

We stayed one night at North Zen Villas, which is conveniently close to Napaling, allowing us to do an early morning "open run" and avoid any traffic.

As I'll explain in more detail below, we had our tuk-tuk pre-booked, so all we had to do was be ready at our accommodation on time.
Why We Recommend a Local Guide for Napaling
Napaling is one of those diving spots where you could just pay the tuk-tuk fare and entrance fee and explore on your own.

However, we specifically chose to go with our local guide, Gary, for several compelling reasons!
First: Extended Time at Napaling!
If you visit Napaling independently, a government-assigned guide will accompany you for snorkeling, but there's a strict one-hour time limit. We found this to be far too short to truly savor the stunning beauty of Napaling.
Second: Incredible Diving Photos!
With the help of Gary, a truly skilled freediver, even we — complete beginners at freediving — managed to capture some amazing, once-in-a-lifetime diving shots!

Even though we could barely dive 30 feet (10 meters), Gary patiently guided us through each pose, teaching us techniques tailored to our skill level. We were incredibly grateful for his expertise!
Third: Discovering the Best Snorkeling Spots
The fish and underwater environment at Napaling can vary depending on the season. With local guide Gary leading the way, you'll uncover hidden gems, from "Nemo points" to impressive schools of jackfish!
You can reach Gary on KakaoTalk: gary.g
Feel free to chat with him in English (using a translation app like Papago or an LLM if needed). He's happy to answer questions about pricing and availability.
He's quite a well-known local guide among freediving enthusiasts, so we had no issues making our reservation!
Pricing (Entrance Fee, Guide Fee, Environmental Tax)

1. Napaling Entrance Fee + Environmental Tax + Government Guide: ~$15 (800 PHP)
2. Gary's Guide Fee: ~$11 (600 PHP)
3. Roundtrip Tuk-tuk Cost: ~$9 (500 PHP)
(※ Note: If entering before 6:30 AM, item 1 changes from ~$15 to ~$7)
Total: For 2 people, approximately ~$33 (1800 PHP)
What to Pack for Your Napaling Guided Tour
1. Snorkeling Gear
Fins, snorkel, mask, anti-fog solution. While rentals might be available, we highly recommend bringing your own gear for the best experience.

2. Cash
It's best to bring plenty of cash, as you'll need it to pay your local guide Gary. (The locker deposit was also cash-only, if I recall correctly!)

3. Towel & Shower Essentials
After snorkeling, there are basic shower facilities to rinse off the saltwater. If you prefer to feel completely fresh, we recommend bringing your own shower products. We just did a quick rinse and air-dried!
4. Action Camera (Essential)
To capture the stunning beauty of Napaling Reef and your incredible dives, an action camera is an absolute must! Even if you have to rent one, make sure to bring it.

5. Strong Stamina (Essential)
You'll be freediving for about 2.5 hours, so having good stamina is really important! We stayed in the water until our action camera battery died! And throughout it all, Gary seemed tireless...
