How to Access the 080 Lounge at Bengaluru Airport
The 080 Lounge is the only one located within Bengaluru Airport, making it straightforward to find. There are several ways to gain entry, including direct payment at the door or using a Priority Pass (PP card).
My partner and I usually access it using our Priority Pass cards, linked to credit cards issued by a local Indian bank.
The 2 Rupee Alcohol Ticket Hack
The first time I visited the 080 Lounge at Bengaluru Airport, I was simply told that alcohol wasn't included with entry, and I didn't question it. But on my second visit, I decided to ask the counter staff, "How much extra would it cost for alcoholic beverages?" And the answer was truly surprising!
By simply making a card payment of just 2 Indian Rupees (INR) – which is literally just a few cents USD – you'll receive two vouchers for alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. These tickets allow you to choose two beverages, including cocktails, mocktails, wine, and even beer. Since it's practically free, when you enter the 080 Lounge at Bengaluru Airport, always remember to ask for your alcohol tickets and secure two coupons per person!
Buffet Selection: International Cuisine with Mild Spices
Bengaluru Airport itself is considered one of India's most modern and well-designed airports, and the lounge's elegant interior immediately catches your eye upon entry. While it can get busy during peak flight times, we were fortunate to find comfortable seating with plenty of space on this particular visit.
The buffet line offers a diverse spread, from fresh salads and various bread options to a range of essential hot dishes.
About half of the food selection consists of local Indian-style dishes, which might be a hit or miss depending on your sensitivity to spices.
However, there's also a generous selection of international food options with milder flavors, ensuring everyone can enjoy a satisfying meal. The dessert and fruit stations are also well-maintained, perfect for a sweet finish after your meal. While on some days the variety might feel a bit limited, the menu on this visit was excellent overall.
Freshly Made Dosa, Omelets, and Geist Craft Beer
My personal favorite spot is the live cooking station, where dishes are prepared fresh to order.
The menu rotates periodically, and this time they were offering my beloved Dosa (a South Indian pancake) and **omelets**.
I loaded up my plate with crispy, freshly made dosa, accompanied by two of my favorite sauces. For the omelets, we requested both a cheese omelet and a mixed vegetable omelet, enjoying them warm and fluffy.
After gathering our food, we headed to the bar located near the entrance for our drinks. The bar stocks a variety of spirits and beverages, notably featuring Geist beer, a popular local craft beer brand from Bengaluru.
Just out of curiosity, I asked the bartender about their whisky selection, and he kindly offered a small sample. What great service!
With a table full of delicious food, a refreshing Geist beer, and a sip of whisky, we enjoyed a thoroughly satisfying meal before boarding our flight.
If you're planning a trip to India or are flying out of the country, I highly recommend making the most of the 080 Lounge at Bengaluru Airport and experiencing this '2 Rupee happiness' for yourself!
Additionally, if you find public transport intimidating or unfamiliar when traveling from Bengaluru Airport to the city center, consider booking a private airport transfer service in advance through platforms like Klook. It's an incredibly convenient option.
