Anyu Hotel Hangzhou Review 2026: A Tranquil Retreat

Truly, this is a Hangzhou hotel I'd wholeheartedly recommend, even suggesting you cut short other plans just to experience it!

I booked it captivated by its beautiful and sophisticated interior, and it was so wonderful that I ended up canceling the rest of my Hangzhou itinerary just to stay at the hotel.

Planning a trip to Hangzhou during its famously beautiful autumn foliage season in late 2026, I chose Anyu Hotel as my haven. And just as expected, a full day of blissful lounging was on the agenda!

If you agree that life is busy enough without making travel busy too, then you absolutely must pause and unwind here in Hangzhou!

Why I Chose Anyu (安隅) Hotel in Hangzhou

After a bustling trip through Shanghai and Suzhou, Hangzhou was my final destination! Most people only know West Lake, but Hangzhou offers so much more: Xixi National Wetland Park, Longjing Tea Village, Lingyin Temple, Hefang Street, and impressive performances like Impression West Lake and Songcheng Romance Park.

While many choose to stay in the Hubin area, the bustling eastern part of West Lake known for shopping malls and easy access to tourist spots, I prioritize ambiance over location since I prefer taxis and don't care much for shopping.

That's why I chose Anyu Hotel Hangzhou. I had plans to drop my bags and then explore Lingyin Temple and stroll around West Lake, but upon checking in, I immediately canceled the rest of my itinerary and simply had to stay put at the hotel.

I don't regret missing out on other famous sights, but I do feel a pang of regret that even after dedicating a full day, I couldn't fully savor everything this hotel offers.

So, if you're just looking for a place to sleep, I'd say skip it. But if you're seeking a leisurely 2-3 day escape to truly relax, this is highly recommended!

An (安) for Peace + Yu (隅) for Corner

This space proclaims itself a tranquil sanctuary within the bustling city. It's not about vast, open areas, but rather finding peace tucked away in a quiet corner.

Perhaps this is the essence of the day this hotel wishes to gift its guests.

Just as one might wish to avoid prying eyes even from a high vantage point, the hotel's design thoughtfully considers guest movement and sightlines in every nook and cranny. This ensures you can enjoy complete privacy without constantly encountering other guests.

Honestly, I lack the words to fully describe the experience here. All I can really articulate are the pictures of the refined, calming wood-toned interior and the delicious food...

So, I truly hope you'll visit in person and experience the same serene relaxation I did.

If you search for it because it looks appealing, you'll likely, like me,

see "China" & an unfamiliar brand

and wonder if the accommodation cost isn't too expensive.

However, after staying there myself, you'll discover that the experience far surpasses the monetary value. Furthermore, with the breakfast, afternoon tea, snacks, and the Longjing tea ceremony space in the library lounge, my final conclusion is that the value for money is outstanding. You'll easily get your money's worth and more, even just by enjoying the food and amenities beyond sleeping.

It is on the pricier side for a Hangzhou hotel. For the most beautiful autumn foliage period in Hangzhou, around late November to early December 2026, rates are typically around ~$320!

I'm already excited and looking forward to how magnificent autumn will be at Anyu, embraced by the picturesque scenery of lakes and temples painted in vibrant reds and yellows.

Room rates are fairly consistent, but you might find a slightly better deal by combining special offers, discount coupons, and factoring in membership tiers. So, if you're interested, be sure to check directly!

Anyu Hotel Hangzhou Guest Rooms

Because it's a Chinese name,

Anyu is pronounced and spelled in various ways.

From the outside, you'll see a three-story building and a lower structure. Guest rooms are located in the three-story building and on the first floor overlooking the inner courtyard.

I stayed in a Courtyard Room.

The room overlooked the garden, and the soft glow from the lounge beyond was simply beautiful. By autumn 2026, the trees will be filled with vibrant leaves, and I'm already looking forward to how magnificent that view will be.

The guest room was astonishingly tidy, with everything you could possibly need. Here, I felt like a more sophisticated version of myself. The design actively utilizes natural light, complemented by eye-friendly lighting where needed. The bed and bedding are incredibly comfortable, promising a deep sleep, and the room is filled with covetable furniture and amenities.

(You'll be surprised by quite a few "Oh, they have this too?" moments.)

Even the bathroom space is a work of art.

Nothing feels forced or overly ostentatious here, yet it exudes an inherent sense of luxury!

I genuinely can't wait to go back.

Deliciously Delightful Dining at Anyu Hotel Hangzhou

The reception and dining area is the space we've probably seen most often in photos.

It's the first place you encounter and the one you'll visit most frequently: where you check in with anticipation,

enjoy afternoon tea,

grab fruits and nuts when you're feeling peckish,

and enjoy a healthy and delicious meal each morning.

The thoughtful design, with views of the landscape beyond the windows and carefully spaced tables, along with partitions, ensures everyone can enjoy themselves freely while maintaining a comfortable distance and privacy.

To this day, the nuts I had at this Hangzhou hotel remain my absolute favorite.

Breakfast is an absolute must-include, and you'll be well-fed and satisfied all day long!

My Biggest Regret: Not Fully Enjoying the Library Lounge

As you enter the space, you're greeted by music, a delightful aroma, and welcoming fruit.

I truly wish I had utilized it properly! By this, I mean I regret not sitting in the lounge, sipping tea, reading a book, and enjoying some quiet contemplation. Instead, I busily snapped photos.

I'm sure I won't be able to put my camera down even if I go back, but next time, I'll definitely use the provided tea set to brew some authentic Longjing tea and truly embrace the tranquility.

Anyu is actually a renowned boutique hotel brand in China, with branches in Hangzhou, Lijiang and Dali in Yunnan Province, Xiamen, and Hainan.

They are strategically located in the most serene and private spots within beautiful cities. Many enthusiasts specifically seek out these hotels for their travels, and I've become such a fan that I'm now one of them.

I'm especially curious to discover what kind of peaceful corner awaits at the Anyu Hotel in Lijiang, Yunnan Province.

If you need a true escape beyond just Hangzhou,

I cautiously recommend Anyu Hotel!

Not only will it shatter any preconceptions you have about China, but you'll inevitably fall in love with it. I can't be held responsible if you find yourself wanting to go back again and again!

I'm usually someone who doesn't spend a lot on accommodation, but the money felt incredibly well-spent here – that's how amazing this hotel is! Next time I go, I'll stay for 2-3 days, and one of those days, I'll even venture out for a stroll around West Lake.
