Anon Hotel Jochiwon Review: A $38 Sejong Budget Stay
Looking for a budget-friendly stay near Sejong City? Read our honest review of Anon Hotel Jochiwon, a clean, comfortable, and affordable choice under $40.
Are you looking for a budget-friendly stay near Jochiwon Station because downtown Sejong City hotel rates feel a bit too high?
I recently visited Sejong City to look for apartments ahead of our move from Jeju Island. Since we were visiting over the weekend, we needed a place to stay.
Before booking, I searched for hotels in downtown Sejong, but the options were quite limited, and most places were priced well over $64 per night for a weekend stay.
Considering our flight costs, we wanted to save as much as possible on accommodation. After comparing a few options, we decided to book the Anon Hotel Jochiwon.
To give you the quick takeaway: while it is a bit far from the central Sejong government complex, it only costs around $38 a night on weekends, is a 6-minute walk from Jochiwon Station, and sits within walking distance of a fantastic local traditional market. If you prioritize budget and convenience, it is a highly recommended option.
Why Choose Anon Hotel?
When searching for a place to stay in Sejong, budget was my main concern.
Weekend rates for downtown Sejong hotels typically range from $64 to $96.

By contrast, Anon Hotel was available for just around $38 on the weekend!
Since we planned to spend our entire day looking at apartments and only needed a place to sleep, there was no reason to pay premium prices.

We just needed a clean, comfortable bed for the night, so Jochiwon Anon Hotel fit the bill perfectly.
It cut our accommodation expenses nearly in half, making it a very satisfying budget choice!
Room Condition & First Impressions

We stayed in the Comfortable Room, which is the second most affordable room type at Anon Hotel.
Walking in, I was pleasantly surprised by how tidy it was (honestly, my expectations weren't super high).

Everything was well-organized, and considering the incredibly low price, it was more than satisfactory.

The room came equipped with a hairdryer and a hair straightener, and there was even a desktop PC available.
Bedding Quality

Bedding is always a make-or-break factor for me when staying at any hotel, and Anon Hotel was generally quite good.
While the sheets weren't crisp and flawlessly tucked like in a 5-star luxury resort, they felt well-maintained and clean.
There were no noticeable stains or odors, and we felt perfectly comfortable. For the price, we had no complaints.
Noise & Sleep Quality
Soundproofing was average. We could hear some hallway noise and muffled sounds from outside, but nothing loud enough to disrupt our sleep.
If you aren't overly sensitive to light noise, you'll sleep perfectly fine. However, keep in mind that we had walked all over Sejong looking at nearly 20 apartments that day!
We were so exhausted we probably would have slept through anything, so take our deep sleep with a grain of salt.
Bathroom Cleanliness

The bathroom was generally clean, though I did spot a tiny bit of mold along the bathtub caulking.
It's not a brand-new hotel, but again, for a $38 room, it was completely acceptable.
The Downsides

There were a couple of drawbacks. The keyboard connected to the desktop PC looked quite dusty and wasn't very clean.
We didn't plan on using it anyway, but the dust was noticeable enough to make us feel a bit uneasy looking at it.

Additionally, the hotel is located near an active nightlife district with several adult entertainment bars.
The neighborhood can feel a bit chaotic and loud at night, so it might not be the best fit for families traveling with young children.
Location & Surrounding Area

One of the best perks of staying here is its proximity to Jochiwon Traditional Market.
It's just a short walk away, making it incredibly easy to grab dinner or late-night snacks.

We actually walked over to the market and picked up some of Jochiwon's famous green-onion fried chicken (Padak) to enjoy back in our room.
Plus, with Jochiwon Station only a 6-minute walk away, it's highly convenient for travelers arriving by train or relying on public transportation.
