This time, I embarked on a trip to Sanya,

located on China's beautiful Hainan Island.

Since there aren't any direct flights from Incheon to Sanya,

I flew into Haikou Airport.

My plan was to then take a train to Sanya,

but my arrival at Haikou Airport was past midnight,

and trains don't operate at that hour.

So, I decided to stay overnight near the airport

and then caught the train to Sanya the next morning.

However, by the time I cleared immigration and exited the airport,

it would easily be 1 AM...

So I really wanted a hotel as close to the airport as possible.

from the airport.

Since my train was at 9:50 AM the next morning,

I needed a place just to sleep, as close as possible,

and then head straight to the train station the next day.

Free Airport Pickup & Drop-off

The biggest reason I chose this hotel

was its 24-hour free airport pickup and drop-off service.

This service, however, came with a bit of a challenge,

so let me share the hard-earned tip I discovered!

I could have just called a taxi upon arrival at the airport,

but why wouldn't I take advantage of a free service?

Plus, I felt that a hotel pickup service

would be a safer option.

So, I thought, 'Oh! This is great!' and booked it.

As my travel date approached,

I suddenly realized, 'Uh oh, how do I contact them if I arrive in the middle of the night?'

I don't speak much Chinese...

So I tried to send an email,

but their contact info only listed a phone number...

(I tried calling, but they didn't speak English ^^;)

So, I contacted Trip.com's customer service

and explained that I needed to book the airport shuttle,

but since I don't speak much Chinese, I wanted to contact the hotel via WeChat or email.

They told me they would contact the hotel and find out.

But more than a day passed,

and I didn't hear back?!

Feeling anxious, I contacted them again,

but only received the reply to wait a little longer...

So, after waiting another day with no contact,

I called customer service yet again,

and finally managed to get the WeChat ID.

Out of an abundance of caution, I messaged the hotel in advance on WeChat

I contacted them after arriving at the airport.

They replied quickly, even in the early morning,

so I was able to take the shuttle bus smoothly to the hotel!!

WeChat even has a real-time translation feature,

so it wasn't difficult to communicate.

If you look at the chat screenshot,

I replied in Korean,

and received replies in Chinese,

so we chatted using translation lol.

I waited exactly where the hotel told me to,

and the car arrived quickly.

But the driver shouted, "Hangworeon~~ Hangworeon!!"

He yelled it so loudly

that everyone stared, and it was a bit embarrassing.. haha.

Thanks to the pick-up service, I arrived perfectly.

When I booked, I thought the pick-up/drop-off service was free only once,

but at check-in, they asked if I needed a ride to the airport tomorrow!

I had to go to Meilan Train Station, which is at the airport,

so when I told them I needed to be at the station by 9 AM,

they showed me this translated message haha.

They are so kind!!

There's one car an hour, so the timing was a bit tricky,

but I decided to take the 8:25 AM one and checked in.

I was so out of it at night

that I didn't think to take pictures of the lobby.

In the morning, while waiting for the shuttle, I managed to snap a few shots of the lobby.

The lobby felt like a typical business hotel, you know?

It was really hot, but they didn't have the air conditioning on haha.

The room was really spacious and great.

Not even a hint of cigarette smell.

The bathroom was also spacious.

Towels and disposable face towels were also provided.

The vanity was located outside the bathroom.

Amenities included a toothbrush, hair cap,

and cotton swabs, to name a few.

Two bottles of water were provided.

I was absolutely exhausted that day,

so as soon as I got in, I showered and crashed!

The next morning, I woke up and drew back the curtains,

and this was the view that greeted me! Haha.

The next day, I checked out right on time for my departure shuttle

and took the same car that had picked me up to the train station.

I didn't spend a single cent on transportation.
