Top 3 Yufuin Hot Spring Ryokan & Accommodation Recommendations for Your Next Japanese Onsen Getaway

As the weather gets a bit chilly lately,
I’ve been absolutely craving a warm, relaxing hot spring getaway!
Yufuin, a charming town blessed with natural flowing hot spring waters,
is actually the number one onsen destination for Japanese locals.
Plus, it's easily accessible as a day trip from Fukuoka,
making it the ultimate convenient escape!
Here are my Top 3 Yufuin Hot Spring Accommodation Recommendations.
1. AMBER

📍 AMBER Yufuin
839-12 Yufuincho Kawaminami, Yufu, Oita 879-5103, Japan
If you're heading to Yufuin with family or a big group of friends,
I highly recommend staying at AMBER.
It's just an 11-minute walk or a 3-minute taxi ride from Yufuin Station,
and can comfortably host groups from 4 up to 15 guests.
Since it just opened in March of this year, everything is incredibly clean.
The property features a fully equipped kitchen like a cozy home
and even has a washing machine, making it perfect for a stress-free stay!

With 6 double beds, everyone gets plenty of space to sleep comfortably
(extra futons can be prepared depending on your group size),
and there's even a traditional Japanese tatami room to give you those classic ryokan vibes.

True to its reputation as a top-tier Yufuin onsen stay, there is a
private open-air bath filled with natural hot spring water right inside,
allowing you and your crew to soak and relax in complete privacy
at any time of the day!
On clear nights, you can gaze up at the starry sky
for an extra magical and romantic experience! 👍

What makes AMBER Yufuin even more special is
that you can enjoy a backyard BBQ here!
They offer options to either just rent the equipment or book a plan that includes BBQ meals,
so you don't even have to worry about grocery shopping!
Soak in the warm springs, grill up some delicious meats,
and experience the ultimate healing getaway in Yufuin!
With an open-air bath, BBQ, and space for large groups,
I highly recommend AMBER Yufuin for its incredibly reasonable rates!.ᐟ

2. Onjuku Yagura

📍 Onjuku Yagura
1270-81 Yufuincho Kawakami, Yufu, Oita 879-5102, Japan
Onjuku Yagura is the absolute perfect ryokan choice if you want
to fully immerse yourself in traditional Japanese aesthetics.
Nestled deep in the mountains at the quiet edge of the village,
it's a bit far to walk, but easily reachable in
about 7 minutes by taxi from Yufuin Station.

The rooms are classic Japanese ryokan style with traditional tatami mats,
and during the winter, they even set up a cozy, warm kotatsu (heated table)
so you can truly live like a local!
A stay at Onjuku Yagura will make you instantly realize,
"Ah, so this is what a true Japanese hot spring vacation feels like!" 😗

True to its reputation as a highly recommended Yufuin hot spring ryokan, Onjuku Yagura features
a private hot spring bath in every single room!
Each room has its own unique vibe,
with some offering open-air baths and others featuring indoor baths.
So if you have a preference, booking early is definitely the way to go.

The standard rate usually includes breakfast,
(though some options don't, so make sure to double-check!)
And if you're looking for the ultimate "staycation" experience without leaving the ryokan,
keep in mind that you can add a multi-course Kaiseki dinner as well!
3. Interhill Tsubasa

📍 イン터힐 翼 湯布院 (Interhill Tsubasa Yufuin)
899-21 Yufuincho Kawakita, Yufu, Oita 879-5114, Japan
If you're planning a solo hot spring trip to Yufuin, or
if you're looking for a highly recommended, budget-friendly Yufuin ryokan,
I highly recommend YUFUIN Interhill Tsubasa!
If you're traveling solo, rates start around the early ~$64s,
and for two people, it's incredibly affordable at around the early ~$128s.

Just like the other spots, Interhill Tsubasa
offers private baths so you can soak in peace.
The rooms are divided into open-air baths and indoor baths:
The "Jasujeong" (Amethyst) and "Sango" (Coral) rooms feature outdoor open-air baths,
while the "Kohaku" (Amber) and "Suisho" (Crystal) rooms come with indoor baths.
But let's be real—nothing beats an open-air bath under the sky, right?!

Since the property is located a bit of a distance from the station,
the surroundings are incredibly peaceful, allowing you to relax in quiet comfort.
It's the perfect destination for a healing getaway in Japan :)
Just a heads-up: breakfast and dinner are not provided here,
so you'll want to stock up on delicious convenience store treats before heading over!
