Yonago is a Japanese destination I adore, and my daughters love it too –
so much so that we've been there twice!
I've tried both free-and-easy travel and package tours,
and surprisingly, my satisfaction with the package tour was higher.
The reason? It all came down to **transportation**.
If you want to explore everything from Tottori Sand Dunes to Sakaiminato and Matsue,
the travel routes can be more challenging than you might expect.
That's why, when I recently stumbled upon a special, limited-time Yonago 3-night, 4-day package,
I dove straight into checking out the itinerary!

01. Why I Recommend a Package Tour, Having Visited Yonago Twice
Normally, I'm much more of a
free-and-easy traveler than a package tour enthusiast.
That's because I love the freedom to linger wherever I please,
discover charming local eateries, and
tweak my itinerary on a whim.
However, my trip to Yonago and Tottori felt a little different.
While exploring Yonago alone isn't hard,
when you're there, you'll naturally want to see the Tottori Sand Dunes too...
...and visit Mizuki Shigeru Road in Sakaiminato,
and even venture as far as Matsue. You just get greedy for more!

The catch? These incredible sights aren't all
clustered together in one spot.
When I went on my free-and-easy trip,
the attractions themselves were absolutely fantastic.
My daughters loved them so much that we even decided to go back!
But having to constantly check public transport schedules
and confirm our next mode of travel became quite a hassle.
On the other hand, with a package tour,
once our sightseeing was done, we simply hopped on the bus and moved on,
and the difference in travel fatigue was remarkable!
That's why, for the Yonago and Tottori region,
I highly recommend actively comparing package tour options as well.

02. Yonago 3-Night, 4-Day Limited-Time Special Offer: Let's Talk Price First!
The package I found this time
is a Yonago 3-night, 4-day deal.
It caught my eye because it's advertised as a
**25th Anniversary First-Come, First-Served Special for 10 People**.
Since prices vary by travel date,
rather than just looking at the price for a specific date and booking,
I recommend first finding the **cheapest departure date on the price graph**.

Currently, it's being offered at **~$656** on the
**Norangpungson official website**,
but if you book through MyRealTrip, you can get it for ~$547.
What's more, apply a coupon and you'll get a 5% discount,
making it available for just ~$519 per person!
03. What's Included in the Yonago 3-Night, 4-Day Package?
When I look at package tours, I always check the
**inclusions** first, even before the listed price.
Because even if it looks cheap,
adding in local guide fees, entrance tickets, and meal costs
can drastically change the actual travel expense.

This package includes:
**- Round-trip airfare, fuel surcharges, and various taxes**
**- 3 nights at a luxury onsen hotel for the entire trip**
**- Meals as listed in the itinerary**
**- Admission fees to attractions**
**- Travel insurance**
**- All other costs, excluding guide and driver gratuities**
**- One 110V conversion adapter per person**
and more!

04. My Eyes Lit Up Even More at '3 Nights in an Onsen Hotel'!
Accommodation is important when you travel, right?
This package includes 3 nights at a deluxe hot spring hotel for the entire trip.
After exploring all day on a winter trip to Japan,
being able to return to your accommodation and enjoy a hot spring bath
is a completely different feeling from a simple business hotel where you just sleep.

Especially when traveling with parents
or going on a family trip,
the condition of the accommodation becomes really important, doesn't it?

05. From Tottori Sand Dunes to Matsue, the Itinerary Made the Package So Convenient
When I saw the itinerary for this package, the first thing I said was,
“They take you to all these places by bus?!”
That's what I said.
Looking at the main attractions, they include:
Tottori Sand Dunes
Horikawa Sightseeing Boat
Mizuki Shigeru Road
Matsue Castle
Shirakabe Dozogun
Sanmonto-dori & Omotesando
and more.
Since I've traveled here independently before,
this aspect really stood out to me even more.

When traveling independently,
I had to constantly check the next bus or train times
and adjust my sightseeing schedule,
so I couldn't visit many places in a single day.

But with a package tour, all you have to do is get on the bus,
and transportation is taken care of automatically. So, if you're traveling with kids
or with your parents,
it feels like there's nothing to worry about.
Because in travel, time is also money!

6. Don't Forget to Include Meals When Comparing with Independent Travel!
Looking at the Yonago package at ~$547,
you might think, “Wouldn't independent travel be cheaper?”
You might even think that.
Of course, if you snag special flight deals
and choose budget accommodation,
you can certainly lower your independent travel costs.
However, to properly compare it with this package,
we need to match the conditions, right?
That means including:
Round-trip airfare + 3 nights at a hot spring hotel + Local transportation + Meals
+ Attraction admission fees + Insurance
all included.

The Horikawa Sightseeing Boat, which I absolutely loved,
is also included, making this itinerary even more appealing.

If you were traveling independently, you'd have to pay these costs locally,
each one separately,
so it wouldn't be right to simply compare only flight and hotel prices,
I realized.
7. Independent Travel VS Package Tour: My Experience from Two Trips?
Both definitely have their pros and cons.
Comparison | Independent Travel | Package Tour |
Itinerary | Flexible | Fixed Itinerary |
Sightseeing Time | As much as you want | Fixed Time |
Local Transportation | Arrange yourself | Vehicle provided |
Navigation | Do it yourself | Less burden |
Meals | Choose yourself | Included as per itinerary |
Attraction Reservations | Arrange yourself | Mostly included in itinerary |
Traveling with Parents/Kids | Transportation can be burdensome | Relatively comfortable |
Trip Preparation | More effort needed | Relatively easy |
I'm a fan of independent travel too, so I totally get that
not being able to linger in your favorite spots
is a definite downside of package tours.
But when you're exploring multiple regions together,
like Yonago and Tottori,
it's a whole different story.
I actually tried independent travel first,
but when I went back with a package tour,
just the sheer reduction in travel stress
made the whole journey incredibly comfortable.
8. 96% Booking Confirmation Rate – Here's What That Really Means!
Did you know that one more crucial thing to check
when booking a package tour is whether your departure is actually confirmed?
Having had a trip canceled just a week before departure myself,
I always make sure to double-check this point.
Based on bookings from last month,
the confirmation rate stands at an impressive 96%!
And 91% of bookings are confirmed within just one day.
It just goes to show how different a travel agency truly committed
to excellent value and customer satisfaction can be!

09. A Destination So Good, My Daughters and I Visited Twice!
Yonago holds a special place in our hearts –
my daughters and I loved it so much, we actually visited twice!

While big cities like Osaka and Fukuoka are fantastic in their own right,
Japan's charming small cities of
Tottori, Yonago, Sakaiminato, and Matsue
were absolutely captivating!
However, inter-city travel can be a real challenge when you're going solo.
But with the Yonago package, I didn't have to worry about a thing –
it was wonderful!
For families dreaming of a trip to the
Tottori Sand Dunes and Mizuki Shigeru Road –
unique sights you won't find anywhere else in Japan.

Or for middle-aged couples looking to immerse themselves in the serene beauty of
Matsue Castle from the tranquil Horikawa cruise boat.

This charming small-city region of Japan truly offers something for everyone to enjoy!
If you have any questions while planning your adventure to
Tottori, Yonago, Sakaiminato, and Matsue,
