Reserved Ticket Types and an Inside Tour Review

Hello everyone!

This is Mini, from Mini's Annual Leave Travels.

While you can definitely explore just the gardens of Schönbrunn Palace,

you'll need a separate ticket to see the interior.

When I visited, I used a pass and paid the difference,

and explored the inside of the palace.

I'll share details on the current ticket types available, how to book,

plus my experience with the audio guide and my overall review of the interior tour.

Designated a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site in 1996,

Schönbrunn Palace was once the summer residence of the Habsburg imperial family.

While the basic park grounds are free to enter,

you'll need an admission ticket to explore the interior,

and some facilities, like the Gloriette viewing platform, also require separate payment.

If your goal is just to admire the exterior and stroll through the gardens,

you don't necessarily need to add the palace interior to your visit.

Conversely, if you're eager to see the imperial interior,

it's a good idea to add a ticket.

Schönbrunn Palace Ticket Types

If your schedule is tight and you just want to see the essentials,

State Apartments

but if you want a more comprehensive look at the interior,

the Palace Ticket is the one to go for.

Since internal viewings have fixed entry times,

it’s best to book in advance,

ideally once your travel itinerary is set.

The Vienna Pass and Flexi Pass

currently include access to the State Apartments by default.

However, you can't just walk in with your pass.

You'll need to reserve your entry time in advance

on the dedicated Schönbrunn booking page.

If you'd like to see the Palace Ticket exhibition as well,

you can select the upgrade during the booking process.

The upgrade fee is approximately €10.

Please double-check the actual payment amount on the booking screen.

Both the State Apartments and Palace Ticket options

include an audio guide.

As you step inside, past the red-carpeted staircase,

you'll find that each room has a distinctly different atmosphere.

From furniture and clocks to dining tables, chairs, and lighting,

the smallest decorations within each room offer continuous sights to behold.

In the grand halls, you'll be mesmerized by chandeliers and intricate ceiling decorations.

Seeing the spaces actually used by the imperial family made me feel

that going inside was definitely the right choice.

The official estimated viewing time for the Palace Ticket is

approximately 75 minutes.

Considering the time for entry preparations and

exploring the palace exterior, it's comfortable to allocate

about 2 hours for your visit.

Schönbrunn requires entry at your designated time.

Factoring in time to find the entrance and actually get in,

I'd plan to arrive with a comfortable buffer of 20-30 minutes.

I'd schedule my itinerary accordingly.

If you don't just want to see the interior

but also plan to explore the gardens and the Gloriette,

it's best to dedicate about half a day to Schönbrunn.

If you wish to see the imperial rooms and interior decorations,

I highly recommend the Palace Ticket.

I actually went inside and viewed the interior,

and it was far more enriching than just seeing the exterior and gardens.

I was so satisfied to truly soak in the palace's atmosphere!
